Why CBS is taking the wrong approach to nutrek.

They need to save money, not spend it on unnecessary bumpy headed aliens or xplosions.
SFX should be indulged of course if the show calls for it.

So we need smooth headed aliens and no explosions - to save money.

Unless the show calls for it - then money is no object.

Yeah, from the POV of people making decisions at CBS what stands out about Kurtzman is that he delivers successful product - specifically, here, successful TV product - out of unusual and sf/fantasy material. They've worked with him time and again and have every reason to trust him - why go to anyone else?

Exactly, He has an existing relationship with CBS proven track record within the Television Landscape, and has been involved in three (soon to be four) Star Trek Feature films....

For philosophical reasons basically.

I have no idea what you are getting on about.

Is this a parody thread?

Movies are not tv shows - they are spectacles. Tv shows are more intimate.

They can be both.... So last season I started watching The Flash... and this show, I think is my favorite, not just of what's on TV right now, but one of my all time favorite TV Shows, because, It is a scripted drama, and has an intimacy about it, but it's also got an epicness about it, almost every single week, which makes it feel ike a Feature film, every week.

I was really wondering how they could even compete with their first season, and they have... spectacularly.... I might add....

After Fringe, I'd trust Kurtzman more than Rick Berman as a show runner.

This is not saying much.
It's not, but Fringe was far better than most of the Trek spinoffs.

Berman was never the show runner was he? I thought that was Maurice guy for the first two seasons, and Piller for Season 3 forward... for TNG... DS9 it was Bher and Moore, for Voyager it was Piller, then Taylor, and then Bragna, with Bragna running Enterprise until Cato came in...

But I doubt Kurtzman will be show runner (running the writers room) on this show either...

I thought he was running it, he was the Executive Producer for all the spin-offs. I'm not sure how much input he had on the individual scripts but he was at least in control of the general direction of the shows.

He was defiantly the big boss... but I don't know how much of a role he had in each show...

With that said, I know he was responsible for the respective show runners after Gene died, and aside from Pillar on TNG, and Bher and Moore on DS9, all of his other pics, seemed to be poor...

Kurtzman has a FAR better track record IMO....

^In all fairness, Kurtzman, at least from what I recall, has always seemed a little more humble of the Kurtzman/Orci pairing.

I can see the interviews now.

So Mr. Kurtzman. How does it feel to be the most second guessed executive producer in Hollywood over something you have yet to produce?

Here's a thought: why not watch the first episode of the show - which will be on "free" broadcast TV - before "perceiving flaws" in it?

Oh, wait - we are Trekkies!

Because everything that needed to be fixed won't be fixed.

None of your preemptive complaints about the series will have any effect whatever on what they decide to do. Fannish whinging is just a way to kill time on the Internet.

As is whining about whining, Dennis.

Mr Awe

At least he's whining about something worthwhile to whine about.

Whining.

Or put the final nail in the Star Trek coffin.

You mean like the 3rd season of TOS? Or TMP? Or the first season of TNG? Or the last season of ENT? Or the seventh Abramsverse film?

Maybe Kurtzman can watch all 700+ Episodes in a big online conference and we explain online, what's important about them? Maybe we can leave the bad episodes out, that would then be 685 episodes.
