Why CBS is taking the wrong approach to nutrek.

Autistoid

Captain
Alright if you can guess I'm quite upset about kurtzman being attached to the new series. Anyways long story I don't think I'm alone so I figure it's useful to have a thread dedicated to what the perceived flaws are in the next series.

MODS:
I think it's better if we have a place for criticism instead of having complaints in every other thread. Also maybe if we air out our criticism maybe we'll decide we might actually like it.

Here's a thought: why not watch the first episode of the show - which will be on "free" broadcast TV - before "perceiving flaws" in it?

Oh, wait - we are Trekkies!

Because everything that needed to be fixed won't be fixed.

As star trek fans, there were some basic expectations for a new series that aren't being met.

#1 Stop duexmachina, instead they hired someone who's in love with it.

None of your preemptive complaints about the series will have any effect whatever on what they decide to do. Fannish whinging is just a way to kill time on the Internet.

Star Trek fans have a really odd sense of entitlement. CBS is giving us a new TV show. That's fantastic news! I'm not saying you have to absolutely love the idea. I'm a little apprehensive myself! But I'm not going to pass judgment until at least three minutes into the pilot. :p

Okay, I'll start. I already hate this new show that hasn't even been produced yet and that I know nothing about because it's not giving me what I want, because only my opinions matter. Yay, now I sound like every other whiny asshole on the internet.

What if some of us like the things that others think need fixing and what if some of us want to fix the things that other fans don't think need fixing.

Who gets to decide what needs to be fixed?

Did this fandom elect a government without telling me?

No actually there are more than a few of us walking around who saw flaws in the movies.

Obviously the vast majority of people who had trouble with star trek left this site a long time ago but there are alot of us who were turned off from the franchise in large part by production decisions.

I'm sure that is true but there is also a possibility that there are fans who left this site because of the attitude of other fans. They got tired of bickering and the griping.

I admit freely that I left a Doctor Who site and fandom mainly for that reason. It wasn't the show, it was the other fans. The same might well have happened here.

The whole point of this thread is to keep the complaints contained to one thread.

Movies? I thought you were talking about this new series that doesn't exist yet, and which the only thing that we know about and that you seem to have some issue with is (one of) the (two) executive producer(s). So, fine, you don't like Kurtzman. You still cannot have a bitch topic about something you haven't seen yet and know nothing about other than that.

How the hell do you know any of that? Have you been on this site since its inception?

Also, the last two quotes above this post are being mistakenly attributed to me. Please fix that, Stardream and Autistoid.

I disliked the Abrams movies. And I'm really worried about the new series already since kurtzman is attached.

I guess that makes me a hater as well.

Done.

Thanks :)

Luckily for you, I hear that Heather Kazin owns a whip and has been told to beat Kurtzman every time he makes a decision that she thinks trufans will hate. ;)

This thread will end well...

I wish I could make that my sig.

Be thankful we're getting a series at all, and friggin' wait 14 more months until you actually SEE the pilot episode to start complaining? How's that for a novel idea?

If anyone ever wonders why Star Trek fans get a bad name on the internet, point them to a thread complaining about the direction of a show that no one knows a damn thing about other than speculation based on the name of one individual involved with it.
