Mario Maker

Aldo: I'll check out your levels tonight.

I uploaded an easier level last night, don't have code on hand. I'm up to 9 uploads and want to at least have a couple easy but stylized levels to get more stars.

How many do you need to get more uploads anyway? I have 23.

Also I updated my haunted house door maze level to make the patterns a little more obvious and hidden blocks easier to find.

You need to get to 50 stars.

Last I checked I only have 8 stars so far.

Description: A mostly X Files themed level with a small sub level.

It's worth pointing out that you can delete levels that might not be taking in that many stars in an effort to get a better star producing level. Note: this will not delete the stars you gained from that level, they will stay with you. I haven't deleted anything myself, I'm only up to 7 levels so far. The GameFAQS community posters seem to feel that five stars per level is an easy way to gain each level and thus extending your level cap.

Ah. I see. I thought deleting the levels deleted the stars too. Good to see that it's not the case.

Got some new levels:

Jalapeno: 0369-0000-0076-BFEE

This is a Super Mario World themed castle level, difficulty about on the level of a mid-game level in SMW. The theme of the level is Yoshi spitting fire.

Skull Castle: 4150-0000-0076-F023

This is a harder platforming level designed around skull platforms. SMB1 style castle theme.
 
I'm working on a Halloween like level right now. Checked up on my most recent level and saw that it got two stars! :) Worked really hard on it and wanted to make it as challenging as I could.

This one I'm trying to build some surprises into.
 
Also one much easier one where I paid more attention to visual design:

I really loved it! The visual design was great, but the challenge was definitely there, although in a fun way. Not the artificial challenge some of these uploaded courses have.
 
Thanks! Yeah, I wanted it to have tricky maneuvers but also be pretty forgiving because of how many powerups it gives you.

Here's another one. My attempt at a water level as there seem to be very few water levels and even fewer good ones, and even fewer good ones that don't spam narrow spike mazes.

It's a ghost themed water level where you're dodging grinders on tracks.
 
Thanks! Yeah, I wanted it to have tricky maneuvers but also be pretty forgiving because of how many powerups it gives you.

Yea I've run into some of those tonight. They were damn annoying, especially the expert ones. Had to skip around 20 of them. Takes the fun right out of it.

Had to make some adjustments. At the end of the last ship you're supposed to go down and to the left a bit and go into a pipe. When I saw the X's it looked like there were a whole three attempts to blind jump off the end of the last ship. So just added an arrow at the end pointing to the pipe.

They really need some more quality control in 100 Mario Challenge. Most of the levels I've been linked to from message boards have been good. But the random ones you've come across think 'Cheap unforseeable traps' and '500 enemies on screen all the time' are the same as challenge. Like no, you're not the first person to think of a door that drops you into a hole, and no, nobody likes it.

Word. It gets very old, very fast. I ran into one that was just a butt load of enemies and it was nothing more than a troll level. Nice try... but no cigar ;).

Skipped that one faster than Luigi running away from a wall full of Thwomps :p.

Theme: Super Mario Bros.

Description: An old school level with some challenges within, along with a sub level with its own challenges.
 
Spaceship Shakedown:

A longer level in which you go through a spaceship. SMB3 themed. Personally, I feel this is my best level yet.


Leftward Journey (Two Routes)
7AA5-0000-0084-12EA

A Super Mario World themed level. After a quick doorway at the start you spend the level scrolling to the left instead of the right. There's an upper path and a lower path both equal in length and quality.

SMB3 Bowser Battle Deluxe!
FE46-0000-008C-8999

The final boss battle in SMB3 only had a few bricks for Boswer to break through. However, in this stage, there's a screen and a half's worth of height of bricks. There's bob-ombs, koopas, mushrooms, coins, and music note blocks buried within the blocks as well -- if you can get Bowser to guide you to these then you'll achieve victory sooner!
 
I'll play your levels next time I'm playing.

I'm at 47 stars and don't want to delete my harder but non star-friendly levels. Need just a few more to raise my upload limit.
 
Played some of your levels.

Love the space ship level, that is really creative. Also love the idea for Bowser battle, though sometimes Bowser would get stuck between a note block and a brick. I beat him by just leaving him on top and forging the way myself with the leaf, shells and bombs.
