Jennifer Lien In Legal Trouble Again

He is trying to get rid of them ALL! :p

Seriously as I said before I hope she gets her life together, many people care about her. :)

It's horrible how mental issues can just build over a long period, and even if someone realizes there is a problem they won't necessarily know something needs to be done, or what to do.
Help for what?

2. Prescription Pills.

3. Booze.

4. Meth.

5. Class A drugs (Heroin, cocaine, etc.).
Those all can easily relate to attempts at self medication.

I suppose if you're a masonic trillionaire who controls the entire world that there are still parts of the planet you secretly own, like Tennessee which you still personally might not want to touch.

In that case, I would move to Tennessee immediately, just to avoid masonic trillionaires and similar people. It's that kind of people who have ruined this world.

Not to mention that it's that kind of people who protect and encourage the drug barons and drug dealers.

I mean, look at Hellywood and all that which look like a gigantic rehab with all kind of people on all kind of stuff. It's no better than east Tennessee. The drugs which are slowly killing those "celebrities" are more expensive but the problems are the same and they will face the same fate as the meth addicts

As for drugs, if I had been the president of some country, I would have wiped out the drug barons and drug dealers without hesitation. But in many countries, the drug barons are protected by "laws" created by those who earn profits from the drug business.

I know from personal experience - currently dealing with a meth addicted niece who may also have some mental problems, she's been living a really dangerous lifestyle, living with thugs, not working, high every day. She got arrested yesterday and the whole family is relieved. She's safer now than she's been in months and it looks like she's going to get court ordered rehab. No one is going to bail her out because she'll just run and continue her same dangerous lifestyle.
So I can the situation that might lead to someone's family not bailing them out of jail for the right reasons.
I've been thinking about Jennifer a lot, as I am a big fan. It's kind of a strange coincidence that her problems are similar in nature and timing to my niece. Unfortunately there's only so much anyone can do for someone else in that situation. We've tried and ultimately there comes a point when someone in that situation has to be the one to help themself.

I have similar experiences with people I know who have the same problems.
Not to mention that as a music fan, I have tons of books, biographies about well-known and not so well-known rock musician and other velebrities as well who have suffered the same fate. That's why all this makes me sad and angry.

That's also a reason why I hate everything drug-related. Everyone who deals with drugs and earn a profit on drugs should be shot at the spot.

I really feel sorry for Jennifer. She had such a talent.

It is never too late as long as she is breathing. :bolian: I know I had my horrible moments, she is beloved by many within the ST community.

That reminds me of something I noticed last night while watching the TNG episode where Riker is accused of murder.

I always have a hard time believing that just about every species humans meet in Star Trek has that silly "guilty until proven innocent" concept. It's such a lazy device to create some more drama and I'd expect most advanced species to see the issues with that concept.

The Cardassians don't ;)

Just because they're even worse. An accused person is simply guilty in the Cardassian system.

No. Their guilt or innocence is decided upon independent of, and before the trial starts.

Theatre.

Kinda like Pro Wrestling.

Oh, you do know that pro Wrestling is scripted, right?

I wonder if she's ever considered getting a big tattoo on the side of her face?

I agree. This probably falls under that same umbrella Dennis likes to bring up from time to time about how alien cultures on Star Trek tend to be culturally and personality-wise largely white-washed by one differing quality (sometimes more) and not much else in order to make them at least somewhat relatable. I do agree that it's intellectually lazy from a writing standpoint. I watched "The Outcast" the other day and while I still feel it's a noble effort (even if it didn't go as far as I would have liked it to) its also very much a product of its time. Yet while also in the process of reading The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Leguin, a text written in the mid to late '60s (can't recall the specific publication year) its hard not to draw comparison to how well written the book is and how far the TNG episode doesn't actually go where it would have needed to in order to make any kind of real impact.

As for Lien, as always I wish her well. Drug addiction is a terrible sickness and she needs real help, clearly. Hopefully this run-in with the law and incarceration will be the swift boot to the ass she needs to really seek and get the help she needs to recover from this horrible illness.

Women at Warp shared this insightful piece covering a rather ugly side of fandom. Worth reading, whether you are a Kes fan or not. At the very least each of us could stand to step back and consider the point it is making.

Trekkie Response to Jennifer Lien’s Arrest Disappoints

Some pertinent quotes:

The hateful comments center around her physical appearance and apparent mental illness, with overtones of ageism, homophobia and transphobia. The consensus seems to be that she is ugly (and hence no longer bang-able), or that she’s crazy. There are so many things wrong with that. This kind of behavior is not acceptable amongst rational humans, especially so amongst people who idolize Gene Roddenberry’s optimistic future.

There are so many unknowns in this case, but some of the people reading the story seem to take joy in Ms. Lien’s misery. No matter what she did or didn’t do, she is still a human being who deserves compassion and open-mindedness.

Come on, Trekkies. If you’re going to call yourself a Trekkie, you have to take the philosophy of Star Trek to heart. It’s not just about spaceships and battles with aliens. It’s about exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and getting to know and empathize with that new life.

If Captain Picard can spend the entirety of “Darmok” simply trying to communicate and understand an alien species, I think we can try to have compassion for our fellow human beings. If we can’t do that, we don’t deserve to venture out into space.

Thanks Karzak for the link and the quotes!

The article was very good.
