The Down Under Lounge

If you haven't seen it, googlre "first dog on the moon abbott" The first result should be a political obituary which is also one of the funniest cartoons I've seen this year, and terriblty, horrifically accurate.

I'm beginning toi think if we'd had Abbott for another year, by its end we would have been living in a MAd Max style wasteland.

Hockey will go. His image is a bad as Abbotts. I can't see any good that could come out of Turnbull keeping him.

I am slightly amused by comments I'm seeing from some Liberals about how they "voted for Abbott, not for Turnbull". Yeah... No. Not how the system works.

Hockey is a bloody numpty. He should have gone a long time ago.

IMHO the role of Treasurer should be someone who has some level of financial qualifications. I know this view will be hated but that's how I feel. Some portfolios should be staffed by qualified people in those roles..

Sad to see such a decent man as Abbott toppled. Now Turnbull needs a November election before Labor sacks Shorten.
Seriously?! SERIOUSLY?!

This man does not live here. He renounced his citizenship.

Apologies for language, but we should tell him to fuck right off.

Murdoch is an old codger with a grudge and an is in one word beginning in F and ending in wit.

Congratulations to the Coalition for winning the 2016 Federal Election.

I dunno about that (even if some bookies have already paid out on bets on the outcome).

By the sounds of it, despite past support for action on the SSM, climage change etc, Turnbull is going to continue down the same track as abbott.

The voters will soon realise that they are being sold the same shit sandwich and the Libs will slide in the polls again.

Hopefully this will prompt Labor to replace Shorten with someone less cringe-inducing.

BTW, points to Turnbull for mocking Shorten's "zinger" in parliament the other day - someone's been watching Micallef!

Turnbull is even backing so called "clean coal" just like Abbott. After all Gina is a starving woman who needs money from her coal mines. :/

Yeah, no.

Whio could do it? They couldn't build up the new leader's profile in time. Go with the devil you know.

That said, Shorten needs to lift his game a LOT. If Abbott could have stayed to the next election, Shorten could have coasted. Now, not so much.

Mind you, Turnbull now looks like a smug prick. Really, really smug.

Yeah, no. The new leader would take too long to run in and get thier groove right. And who is there?

That said, Shorten has to lift his game a LOT. he can't cruise this any more.

Aaand now Turnbull just looks like a smug, smug bastard.

Well the worst treasurer in living history in Australia has quit.. But he gets a plum job as an ambassador. Typical cronyism... Un fucking believable.

Tanya Plibersek could be a good ALP leader.

They can't easliy replace Shorten courtesy of the changes made by kevin rudd.

replacement involves a vote from both the parliamentarian wing and the rank and file members.

So this weekend in Sydney - OZCC is happening. Just wondering if anyone is attending. I am, I'm helping setup with SFI, as I'm part of the local chapter in Sydney. Looking forward to a fun weekend.

Let's see same shitty policies new shiny salesman.

Do I have that right?

Also why is the LNP keep to let the Great Barrier Reef be destroyed by Adani and mining? Even the banks don't think this will be a profitable venture?

Yeah, the LNP is too hand-in-glove with Big Oiul and Big Coal, damned if I know why.

Andrew Blot's mancrush on Abbott is embarrassing now, the two homophobes should just get a room. Slightly more seriously, Blot describes Abbott as a "friend". How objective can he bem then? The man is a raving idiot iof he thinks we'll ever miss "the worst Pruime Minister in Australia's history". Did anyone see the editoria from the Saturday Paper a few weeks ago? Wow, it gives Abbott the kicking he deserves. If you haven't and are curious, let me know and I'll post it here.

I've seen it and it was delightful to read.

Bolt was on 2GB yesterday having another tantrum about the knifing of Abbott.

I will post a link to the audio of this if I can find one.

OK here's an article that has part of the audio in it. God the conservatives are in a spin...

Andrew Blot is losing the plot (hmm, must copyright that).

His rant in today's paper which was very anti-UN. It was weird.

I'm worried the right in Australia is following the US Republican model.

Abbott did say last year that he admired the tea party and their tactics. As did Cori Bernadi

What are your opinions on this anti-abortion guy who arrived in Melbourne after his visa was refused?

Has he been put into a detention centre?

He was refused a visa because he has advocated the execution of doctors. In Australia we do not a right to voice hate speech. We have stopped Gerry Adams and David Irving from coming to Australia in the past.
