Special guest announced for Christmas (spoilers)

And no mention of Jenna. (Which is hardly surprising since she's not even in the UK at present.)

Actually, I've been waiting for River to show up again. Wanted to see why she wanted the 11th Doctor to not go to Trenzalor so badly, yet knowing Clara was alive ("Spoilers" she says). Makes me think River might not like the 12th Doctor and wanted to keep her 11th around longer.

But I also suspected she was traveling with both of them and perhaps the 10th Doctor. her travels with the other two might have been what stopped her from doing full time companion work with the 11th when he asked (right after losing Amy and Rory).

But....there will be a Pond back in the Doctor's Christmas.

On the hand, I am indeed annoyed. On the other hand... I'm hoping for a meaningful advance in both her character and their on-going plot.

Plus, with the recent Big Finish releases, I hope we get a wink-wink in that regard. So, in short, I'll wait and see.

No complaints here, I enjoyed the River Song character in the past. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing her interactions with Peter's Doctor.

I'm cautiously optimistic about her return, I love Alex Kingston and River is a great character, she was just overused during the eleven's era, series six really hurt the character imo. She was better in series seven and her appearance in The Name of The Doctor was phenomenal, that was River done right.

I've always felt her story hasn't really been completed. So I don't mind River Song coming back for another romp. Hopefully, its a Gallifrey-shattering episode.

I love press release speak. (I write press releases as part of my job duties.) The Alex Kingston quote in particular is great; no one speaks like that, and she probably never said anything close to that. :)

There are Rumblings in the Force that there is another Guest Star to be announced. One who is usually found running round with a bow and arrows these days...

Oh! That would be interesting, indeed. Moffat giving fans what they've wanted for a few years...

I thought it was supposed to be a special guest.

I kid, I kid...

I'm going to add "so-and-so is on glittering form" to my everyday vernacular.

That was exactly the phrase. :)

I've written things like that when I've had to manufacture a quote for a press release. Most press release quotes have, at best, a tangential connection with reality.

I called it! I fucking called it!

Okay, obviously I didn't actually predict River would be back in the Christmas special, what I mean is that ever since Name of the Doctor aired everyone else was like "this is obviously the last time we'll see River. They just can't bring her back now." And I have always maintained that as long as Moffat is writing for this show we will always have River back. The only obstacle is Alex Kingston's schedule, which is why we had Tasha Lem created for Time of the Doctor. And now I'm proven right.

Excuse me while I bask in being right for a bit.
