Special guest announced for Christmas (spoilers)

I just hate that we're constantly told stuff and never shown anything. Her relationship with the Doctor is forced and inorganic. Not once have we seen anything to that would genuinely lead me to believe they have/had/will have a romantic relationship.

I'll admit I'm not big on the Doctor/River romance but I did enjoy their flirty little comments towards one another!

Anyways, yay. Just YAAYYY!

I'm happy River is back again.

She's been up and down history through all eras, the fact we've seen her dead in her first appearance really should mean we don't ever have to see the last of her. The Doctor's existence isn't linear and neither is hers.

I am very happy that River will be back :) Now if we can just get rid of Clara I will be happier.

She is by far the best NuWho companion.

I really enjoyed Kingston's portrayal of River Song, and I am happy to hear that she will be returning for an adventure with Twelve.
We were talking about Donna Noble up there. But yeah, I like River myself... except during series 6, where she became excrutiatingly annoying.

Wow! Did I go down the wrong road with that post, Emperor-Tiberius! That'll teach me for reading and semi-comprehending then posting while needing some sleep! I did grow to like and appreciate Donna over time as she lost some of her negativity as she spent more time traveling with the Doctor. Very tragic how we 'first' left her, but it seems things worked out for her, as shown when Ten looked in on her one last time....

"Next time, on a very special episode of Doctor Who":

Doctor: "Hello Sweetie"

River Song: "Who are you?"

Doctor: "Exactly! She got it in one. Now come along, Pond."

River Song: "Don't you 'Pond' me. No one gets to say that...except....Doctor?"

Jack Harkness: "Did somebody say, Doctor?!"

I must agree with this sentiment. Clara looks great but she's just somehow so bland.
LOVED Donna. Miss her.

Now that Clara doesn't seem to be a plot point, bland is the best word I've heard to describe her. Or Kenny from South Park. Or course, Rory was Kenny for a while there, too.

Oh my god they killed Rory! Those bastards!

Actually who got killed more, Rory or Clara. I bet there's some kind of pool to get in on that action.

But I liked Rory. He was supposed to be a dull kind of ordinary person but he seemed cool and Clara is supposed to be interesting and isn't.

I hope that Clara isn't The Doctor and River's kid.
That would be disturbing.

We already saw her parents.
And she only died 3 times.
As Oswin, as Victorian Clara and sort of in that dream sequence, but not really.

Rory is still the unchallenged dying champion... Next to Jack Harkness of course.

I would love this so much.

Or the tangent...one of the Clara splinters is the Doctor's daughter (or son. Regeneration is like that sometimes).

Or Susan. Carol Ann Ford shows up one more time, ending in a regeneration...into a Clara.

I do wonder where this story will fit in River's timeline. While the time travel nature of the show could allow it to fit anywhere, and while the whole premise of River's character has been that they never meet in the right order, there has still been a somewhat linear progression of her narrative. It would be odd from a viewer perspective for this story just be "somewhere in the middle."

I love River. While I agree that they overused her a bit in Season 6, I think she's always great fun.

And I think that the show needs a new "Brigadier" in terms of a recurring character who overlaps with multiple Doctors. So far, none of the characters have expanded beyond 2 Doctors ("The Day of the Doctor" notwithstanding). Captain Jack was with Eccleston & Tennant. River was with Tennant & Smith. The Paternoster Gang & Kate Stewart were with Smith & Capaldi. I'd love to see River with Capaldi, and Jack for that matter.

There are Rumblings in the Force that there is another Guest Star to be announced. One who is usually found running round with a bow and arrows these days...

Jeremy Renner
Orlando Bloom
Evangelise Lilly

Isn't J.Law the current highest paid actress in Hollywood at the moment?
