Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

It's a shame that Edward Woodward is dead, he'd make a great Captain for the Finalizer. Think of the Equalizer as teh captain of the Finalizer. :techman: And there's a new postere out with Poe in it this time.

Official Star Wars material states the Falcon (indeed many ships) have backup hyperdrives.

If that material predates the "Great Decanonization", it isn't official anymore.

That much could be true.
This material did come out (to my knowledge) well after Disney's acquisition of LFL, and probably around the time of the Great Decanonization. :)

Lets say that light speed in the Galaxy Far Far Away is measured along the lines of the Richter Scale, as a base ten logarithmic progression. ".5 past light speed" would therefore be 5 times the speed of light and put the Falcon's non-hyperdrive engines likely capable of carrying them from the Anoat system to Bespin within a few weeks or (more likely) a few months as long as they were fairly close stellar neighbors. No need for a backup hyperdrive, and no need for overly complicated star or planetary systems to explain their proximity.

When they "make the jump to lightspeed" that's when they go into hyperspace. Thus ".5 past lightspeed" does not refer to something accomplished by the non-hyperdrive ( aka sublight ) engines.
We simply don't have enough information for you to be able to say that with any confidence. Access into "hyperspace" may be limited to objects traveling at LS/FTL speeds already, requiring ships to first accelerate up to or past Lightspeed before shunting themselves off into the other dimension (or whatever it is) which is why we see the effect that we do. I'm not making any claims, just thinking of possibilities to make sense of the grandly senseless dialogue we hear on the subject.

I remember watching The Equalizer when I was growing up. And until I saw your comment, I was absolutely sure that it was Michael Caine in the starring role!

Lando didn't replace Han. I'm more worried about them bringing in another Villain. One of the more severe weaknesses of the PT was how disposable the villains felt.

I suspect that Kylo will be somewhat analogous to Darth Maul and end up not being chief baddie.
Supreme Leader Snoke - I suspect - is the true master of evil.

With all the praise Ford is getting from Abrams in every interview I see if Han lives through this movie I'll be very surprised.
