New uniform

I will never understand the propensity of expending effort to announce how much one unequivocally dislikes something in a place where most people likely enjoy that something.

Maybe because its the place to discuss the films? The forums' description does not say "NuTrek-Fans only". Everyone has the right to have an opinion and voice it.

Of course the multiple use of the word "shit" is not necessary...

Looking at the Quinto pic, I'm wondering if the tunic we've seen on Scotty and now Spock is less a new uniform and more a field variant. With the cut and shape, it reminds me very much of a windproof jacket.
I wonder if they may be the new formal uniforms, moving away from the all gray ones from Into Darkness?

I suppose it's a possibility. They have a crispness about them that could work for that and TOS dress unis did have higher collars (McCoys being the same color as his tunic). But that means Scotty and Spock were at some formal event when they had to beam down to the crash site where Kirk is already in his away team or fighter pilot suit. Speculation abounds.

i got a feeling those are the new on-ship, regular uniforms rather than dress uniforms.

a shit uniform for a shit set of characters in a shit series of movies

only fitting

These grapes are sour, aren't they?

I kinda understand fans who have a problem with the whole "not your daddy's Star Trek" thing, but...

"A shit set of characters"?

Also, costume design in these movies so far has been nothing but amazing... Though I must say, I don't dig the hats.

Besides the Admirals Uniform and the Radiation Suits from STID, I have to say that the other costumes were pretty boring. But ST in general not often had an outstanding costume design.

The crews uniforms in ST 09 and STID had nothing special to them. The new ones, we have to see...

Everyone has the right to an opinion. Not all opinions are equally valid. Moreover, I wasn't saying he couldn't make his complaint, I was pointing out the uselessness of the particular opinion expressed.

good to see one person not upset at "the horrible person who said a curse word"

The "curse word" wasn't the point of complaint. The waste of time represented by the empty commentary was the source of the complaint. "It sucked", or some variant thereof, is simply uninteresting (IMO ;) :p ).

I just saw on Facebook, a company called ANOVOS is selling Star Trek Beyond shoulder patches. And the film's not even out for a year...
ANOVOS is the same company which was making and selling pricy replicas of the uniforms for the 2009 movie, even using the same fabric.

The whole post was unnecessary. (gazomg had registered more or less the same "opinion" on at least one occasion previously.) However, it achieved the desired result: he stirred things with a stick and several people accommodated him by responding to a post which said essentially nothing. It's an easy win for someone just out for a reaction, and everyone who took the bait should probably feel silly.

This simply asserts the right to an opinion - it doesn't explain the urge that Ovation's referring to.

I don't like the new uniforms that Pegg and Quinto are wearing, BTW - they look cheap and unimaginative. I own nicer gear for running on the treadmill.

Apart from said Post: How can one opinion be more valid than another? Opinions are always subjective.

Of course, now you're plainly trolling, and this one will earn you a warning. Comments to PM!

The opinion of an art history major on the historical importance of a particular work of art is more valid than mine would be.

The opinion of a sound engineer on whether a recording should be mastered with a wide or narrow dynamic range is more valid than mine would be.

The opinion of a cinematographer on the composition of a shot in a film is more valid than mine would be.

In other words, informed opinion is weightier than simple, uninformed opinion. Thus, not all opinions are equally valid.

Until we see them wearing those in the ship I'm not convinced the previous uniforms are out.
