I one of the saddest things about all of this it's probably going to sour most of the non-comics fans on the whole idea of an FF movie. I've only read the first four issues of the Miller/Hitch run, but even those few issues make it clear that there is a lot of potential for a great movie in the characters.

The FF should be one of the easiest properties to do well in a movie.

^ As Marvel/Disney will quickly prove once Fox sells what's left of the property back for $500. (No... Make that $400.)

Or they just wait 5 to 7 (google can't make up it's mind.)years and the rights revert back for free.

$500 is a lot of money.

LOL--Disney of course already did the FF with The Incredibles.

The Fantastic Four has all the elements of a great summer blockbuster. Super-hero action, Monster movie suspense and effects (Mole Man would be a great villain), dysfunctional family dynamic, nerdy guy/cute girl romance, possible destruction of New York, etc.

They're not a family.

Reed and Sue have known each other for a week before the teleporter experiment.

They're a family in the comic. That's what's important. It's just waiting for someone else to get right.

Some good news about this whole thing is that Comixology has some pretty good deals going this weekend on Fantastic Four collections.

Maybe I was addressing the gaping schism between the comics and the new movie?

So watching the Scenes between Johnny and Alicia and the Human Torch last night in Rise of the Silver Surfer, I couldn't help giggling thinking that the two of them "seemingly" spent over a decade married in the comics, after Alicia was Switched out with a sneaky Skrull infiltrator.

Oh.

SHE COULD SEE!

Johnny Storm is exactly the sort of man that would lie about shit that he thought he could get away with if his wife was blind. Although when it happened on some sitcom once, it was about the how the sighted girlfriend stopped combing her hair and wearing make up, she wore TRACK PANTS to dinner for gods sake... Was that Seinfeld or something else?

To vain to allow his grooming to be at all be suspended, John would totally have lied about house work, and his Skrull wife would have known that he was lying but couldn't have done anything about it without breaking cover, which would have endangered the invasion!

That must have been busting her balls!

Losing all those arguments to an idiot just because mankind definitely had to be invaded, subjugated and herded into cattle pens.

Oh the humanity!

Yeah it certainly seems like it should be easier than an Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

And audiences seemed to respond well to the fun, lighthearted tone of the previous two FF movies, which wasn't that far off from the tone of the comics. The problem was just with the crappy story and casting.

According to an interview Kate Mara did last year, Trank specifically told them not to read any of the comics

1. Comps were sent and Trank didn't want to share.

Or...

2. Comps were not sent, and Trank did want to share his personal collection.
Or..comps were sent and Trank thought they were for rolling paper. ;)

From the stories, it doesn't seem like something that would fit in a rolling paper was his problem.

Smoking the comics, from a hippy perspective, might have helped?

Although glossy paper doesn't sound too healthy.

If Kate (for instance.) had read the Ultimate Fantastic Four, closer to the end than the beginning, then she would have learnt that Reed is a psychopath trying to destroy the world and that romantically she is supposed to wind up with (a cured, no longer rocky) Ben Grimm, so maybe it was thought best not to create a few worlds at conflict inside her head?

The script was stupid. TPTB knew that a year ago.

Doom had no motivation.

Did planet zero make him high?

(There was an energy based lifeform in Stormwatch called Fugi who had a spontaneous orgasm every 7 seconds.)

Because that's the only thing that made sense. Some sort of drug mania frenzy word salad, where nothing he did or said had to be contiguous at all, as long as the Planet kept irradiating the chemicals in his brain to make him feel superpleasure.

But they didn't say that.

This is what was said...

"That place gave me strength, power, the sort of power that men like you must never possess."

So is he simultaneously trying to destroy the Earth so it will not threaten planet Zero, while killing anyone that would abuse the power of planet Zero to dominate the earth?

How would this have made more sense if he was a hacker?
