^ Caitlyn Stark and Oberyn Martell? Khal Drogo and Robert Baratheon?
No, they were secondary, supporting characters... Oberyn most obviously so. Their story significance is in their effect on the story lines of the protagonists.

A lot of that is the benefit of hindsight, though. They all look like protagonists until they get the chop.
...we won't know for sure that Jon's back until Thrones returns next spring, which means that for the next nine months, every single one of Harington's movements will be obsessively scrutinized for clues towards Jon's status. And he knows it, too: As you can tell from the photos fans have been snapping, he's absolutely miserable about being spotted — and not just because that's the way his face looks. Are we going to be doing this every time I step out in public? he seems to be saying. Yes, Kit. Yes we are.
Give the guy a break.. i never understood the need to get into a movie/tv stars private life just so you can score a photo or signature.
It's different when they're at an official function such as a premiere of their show or movie because that's work time for them but being in a restaurant, park or wherever means they're on private time and i'd respect that (obviously i'm in a minority but still).
I'm just waiting on all hell breaking loose if he starts appearing in costume on the Game of Thrones set.. there's no way they can keep that a secret so it'll be fun what the producers will say once it's revealed that he survived.
Anyone know the exact date when season 6 filming starts filming?
I'm not sure if they're just rehearsing or actually filming yet, but Liam Cunningham (Davos), the guy who plays Dolours Edd, the actress who plays Missandei and others have been seen around town.
However, where I think you and I are largely in agreement is that I note that you didn't include Jon as a significant death. Among the reasons why I don't think Jon is dead is that his death would serve no purpose to the larger story. Ned died to bring the North into the War of the 5 kings. Both Viserys and Drogo's deaths were to show that Dany was the real last surviving dragon. Robb and Catelyn to put the Bolton's in power in the North. Oberyn to apparently seal Tyrion's fate, Twyin to ensure that he was banished from Westeros.
But if Jon is dead, surrounded and unloved by the Night's Watch, what does that death serve? Life will go on at the Wall, but with a new Lord Commander. Nothing will really change. The only repercussions are that the Night's Watch are no longer lead by someone who realises the threat of the Others and who is willing to make peace with the Wildlings. It's hard to see how the story is served by that - the story is surely served by Jon fighting the former by making peace with the latter.
