I don't see what's "down-beat" about this musical sequence at all. It's full of flaring trumpets with an almost celebratory, parade-like tempo playing up the triumph of Superman learning to fly for the first time.

    Yes, it's celebratory in parts.
But it also dulls the visually funny moment when he loses control, crashes into the mountain, and comes up frowning.

I never noticed before in that scene that they use the "flying wind" sound effect almost straight from the old George Reeves show.

It's slow, drone-like, in a minor key, and with the same monotonous, plodding beat that permeates the rest of the score.

It's funny, the soundtrack for Real Steel has a pretty similar beginning to the main theme, and it would have fitted much better.

Huh, what you call monotonous and plodding I call dramatic and energetic. And a heckuva lot more memorable than most of the generic Marvel scores.

The only complaint I have about the MOS score is that we didn't hear more of the cool main theme (heard at the end of the movie and in all of the trailers).

Dude. Look at the way Affleck's muscles go all the way up his neck, compared to Cavill's

Batman's neck looks like a Cardassian neck :)

Looks like Affleck's Batman solved the problem of not being able to turn his neck in the suit by eliminating his neck altogether. :p

Haha yeah, I think they might have gone just a bit overboard with the muscle padding on the Batman suit. Affleck was already looking buff enough as it was.

In fact Cavill is looking downright skinny next to him on that cover. :D

Joking aside, I really do love that batsuit. Black on grey was always my favorite look for Batman, and I love the big, bold symbol on his chest.

In the pic of them facing it looks like Affleck is actually shorter than Cavill, not taller, so I think it's just the composition.

It is a very awkward pic of Batfleck. Presumably he just has his head forward to look intense, and this makes it look like he has no neck? The texture on his costume makes it look like his body is an artist's rendering. The colour and sheen of the cowl doesn't match the cape or gloves, so there's definitely something wrong with this picture...

Well Affleck looks pretty great in the actual movie footage (especially the shots of him kicking all kinds of ass), which is all that really matters.
