Why everyone hates Kieko

I don't hate Keiko. Never did.

Neither do I. I have to admit, that she had some weird moments. Especially, when she tried to force Rugal :cardie: to eat Cardassian food, even though she know the boy hated all things Cardassian.

She also had great moments. When she dressed down both her husband and Shakaar during Kira's childbirth for not behaving properly......:)

Never had a huge problem with her. Looks-wise, he was getting the better deal so maybe that influenced their relationship dynamic. He was the kisser, she was the kissed.

Keiko was the perfect match for O'Brien in STAR TREK: The Next Generation. She added so much to his narrative. She made O'Brien a more complete character and his fictional life became much more dynamic, as a result of her inclusion. Not as prone to nagging as she was in DS9. She's smart and very beautiful ... what more could any Man want, or deserve? I wish we could've gotten to know her even more, but then O'Brien's bromance with Bashir took over and she kind of got sidelined. But I'm quite fond of Keiko, as are others ... many others.

I have to agree with others here. I liked her, but yeah at her worst (or sometimes average), she was pretty boring at times.

I liked episodes where she got to do more, but 80% of the time she was only on screen because Miles was on screen. A couple of those TNG episodes where she got to stand on her own were fairly nice, if only because of the variety. I wish she interacted a little more with the rest of the DS9 crew outside of Kira.

In hindsight, I would have liked a Bashir/Keiko episode, in which Keiko's forced to take Miles' place in the adventure and the two end up bickering but end up sharing a laugh by making fun of Miles behind his back.

She wasn't that interesting but I never got the hate for her.

I like when she stuck to her guns and refused to compromise education. She was willing to sacrifice her happiness for her husband's career. I think the problem is that she was a female character, in a relationship with a very likable and more prominent male character, who possessed opinions and feelings of her own. On television, that's heresy. On television we're used to seeing the male hero just get what he wants and Keiko had the nerve to not just automatically be happy and then to vocalize those feelings.

Pam got the same kind of heat in the last season of The Office.

Maybe Miles gets jealous, too? (Naturally unjustified, and everything works out in the end.)

I got annoyed with Keiko when she whined, but kudos to the writers for actually allowing her to do something about her unhappiness rather than just continue to whine. My favorite episode with her was when she yelled at both Miles and Shakaar for their behavior when Kira was giving birth. I would have liked to see more of her life on Bajor.

I have never hated Keiko.

I have always found her a very human character, whose marital issues were very believable.

I had no feelings or dislike nor like towards Keiko. She was a good character device for O'Brien who I did like.
