"There's no way I was including Seven's quarters and that creepy holo-Chakotay with his sex-pest waistcoat and cheesy wine bottle opening lothario smirk."

Thank you, Hux!

Teacake> I love the Beasts library. I wanted to see what books he had. I wouldn't fight for Leo unless I had to ;-) If she hogged the program . I'd be tempted to tweak his pessimistic attitude though.

I wouldn't set foot in most of them. Zzzz. I'd want to do the Worst case Scenario one with it programmed to make me think Seska reprogrammed it to give me a thrill. lol.

I'd play Velocity and for social reasons I'd pop into Fair Haven

Sandrines: too dark and dreary. But for Teacake and Paris I'd swing by.

Jane Eryre: Bossy brats, (justified but not relaxing!) unappealing father. What a waste of a set design.

Neelix' resort program is ugly and bad tropical music. Pass. I suppose esthetics are too important to me. Especially with Tropical themes. Which isn't my favorite scene to begin with.

Proton : I haven't decided if I would enjoy that.

World War: because it's a Star Trek version, meaning toned down, it might be interesting.

Just because it wasn't shown, that doesn't mean people couldn't have used it. Or are you suggesting that the only times in all those 7 years that anyone used the holodeck were in the episodes themselves and absolutely nothing else happened off-screen?

Well by that logic, Ayala's baby-oil and disco programme wasn't shown but may have been used. Not to mention Chell's dungeon of BDSM. I'm suggesting it wasn't ongoing, wasn't discussed and wasn't interesting.

I have no idea what you're referring to.

So you're suggesting that in addition to the holodecks, Voyager also had a gym, of sorts? (the kind that caters to 24th century sports)

I'm suggesting that playing Velocity had no fantasy element.

And Voyager did have a gym.

BAXTER: It started acting up a couple of days ago. I'd been working out in the gym, maybe I overdid it.

There's no need to get rude about it. :vulcan:

We saw the movie theatre program, and there is absolutely no reason to suppose that other crewmembers wouldn't have used it at some other point, once they were introduced to the concept.

So why didn't we see or hear of this gym in other episodes? By your logic, if we only saw or heard something once it was uninteresting, so how dare we mention it in this thread? And there's no fantasy element to the gym, so why bother mentioning it exists at all?

The gym could have been a holoprogram - ever consider that?

I don't think any of them were all that interesting. I would probably through a rave in a Borg cube simulation! :rommie:

I bet the crew would be nicely creeped out by Barclay's versions of them all in the Pathfinder lab. I hope he cleared his holodeck history when Voyager got home!

But it wasn't ongoing in the show beyond one episode. Those were the criteria I was interested in. If you love the holo-cinema so much, why don't you marry it......then start a thread.

You brought up the gym.

It could and I did.......and I still left it out. Why? Because again, I wanted to start a thread about communal, ongoing, fantasy environment programmes that were actually seen (in more than one episode).

For one thing, you may be the OP, but you don't own the thread. People are allowed to have other opinions.

For another thing, you just contradicted yourself. Some of these programs were not in more than one episode (2-parters count as only 1 episode as far as I'm concerned).

For a third thing, I'm not the one who brought up the gym. You did.

Nope.

You brought up the gym. Learn to read.

You're spoiling this thread now. Please go away.

You don't get to tell me to "go away."

I did a review of my posts, and it turns that what I actually said was this:

So I ASKED if Voyager had a gym.

It's been many years since I last watched Voyager on a regular basis, so there are some things I've forgotten.

It does seem rather redundant to have both a gym and a holodeck, and the character's statement of being injured in "the gym" doesn't necessarily mean the gym wasn't a holoprogram.

And WTF does it matter if Velocity had a "fantasy element" to it or not? It was still a competitive activity that any crewmembers could do if they wanted. It wasn't something that only Janeway and Seven were allowed.

It matters to me. I'm explaining why I left them out and why I focused on the ones I did. The holo-cinema was seen once so wasn't hugely memorable (and kinda pedestrian for a holodeck scenario) and Velocity is just a game (also pretty dull).

In a discussion about all the fantastic things you can do on a holodeck, those two didn't stand out. People can discuss them if they want but I'm personally just more interested in what they thought of the communal settings, the fantasy role playing games and what ideas they personally would come up with for holodeck programmes.

It's really not that important. It's just a opportunity to start amusing conversations that spiral off in bizarre directions. That's how the voyager board rolls.

"Dull" is in the eye of the beholder. Just because a movie theatre is mundane to us, that doesn't mean it is to 24th century people who aren't used to that kind of entertainment.

For me, I'd find Sandrine's dull. Ditto the resort program.

What I would do on a holodeck would include role-playing a character in one of my favorite novels, or even a Dungeons & Dragons kind of scenario - that at least isn't too predictable.

I forgot to vote for the Resort. They were far away from Risa, so why not create that resort? You can have fun there except Q shows up.
I voted for Fair Haven, Sandrines and Photons be free.

For years, I assumed it was some kind of Hawaiin resort with a beach we never see but apparently it was supposed to be on Talax.

Most of the holodeck programs were pretty boring. If I had to choose from the list, Flotter looks like it could be adventurous. :D

Bleh... why is that awful resort so popular? The only choice is Captain Proton! I want to play as Chaotica's henchman and keep Constance Goodheart screaming....with some of Arachnia's pheromones.

Beats me. To me that resort looks like a snore with its sporty hookers, surfer dudes with too much packing , and ugly 90's decorum. Give me the crystal blue oceans , soft white beach with a nice drink hut, skip the steroid users and just give me my beloved Voy crew to enjoy the time.

My irritability has seeped into my posts. How unkind to call them 'roid users. But I think I've well established I dislike it. I'm actually weighing if I'd rather have bridge duty.
