wow...words pale to describe that... Uncharted is looking better and better .

Normally I excuse a lot , costume errors, poor acting, plot holes you could park DS9 in to, as fan films are made by amateurs, but this has got be the worst thing I have seen in long long time.


Blanca Blanco, has a sting of bit parts, and in one (bad) movie's trailer she has a line, and is actually ok, so I will chalk her performance up to bad directing. http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi50702361?ref_=nm_rvd_vi_1 (around1:49)

I feel they need to make another Kick statrter campaign to pay people back for the 7 minutes of their life they took as we hoped it got better.

The good: they put something out for people to see.

The bad: it really wasn't very good.

I'm not worried about the effects as they can be sharpened up with further post-production. The storyline seems like it could be interesting, so that's a positive. Unfortunately, the dialogue had real issues, ranging from T'Lexa's "space" to the nonsensical orders from the captain.

It doesn't build confidence.

Yeah sizzle reel might be a better description of what this is. I agree it's not a trailer, though to be fair that may have been my words not theirs. They are calling it a teaser.

As ever, I think they're to be congratulated on getting something made and putting it out there. My earlier comments on this project still stand though.

Yes, T'Lexa's should have said fallen through 'Time' not just 'space', Her performance felt so forced and unnatural .

Sorry Tom, I used to work for a director who would often say he could do wonders at the editing stage...but even he would struggle for months with this short (it's a vignette, NOT a trailer!)

Things happening out of the blue (the time-travelling vortex, the klingon ships, Ransom picked up by the ''Equinox''), terrible dialogue, a horrendous lead ''actress'', outstanding VFX being drowned by weird colour swishes, amateurish VFX at the end tagged on after much better earlier effects,...

and on and on, and on and on...

Lol - well, in the performance of John Savage and in the general idea of him traveling back in time on board the TOS variation of his ship. The sets were good, but that´s to be expected since they filmed on the P2 sets. VFX were in parts pretty good, in other parts not so much. If they choose another female lead, rework the dialogues and tighten the edit a lot and fix the rest of the VFX, this could be interesting - but it is a looong way.

Wouldn't this create a new time line like the JJ films? How can you have a future Captain Ransom command a ship in the Tos time period. The only set issue I saw was that the turbolift doors did not shut all the way.

Honestly, the whole thing screams "Let's re-do the JJ movie opening, but shittier!"

I get that it's a teaser, but this thing is embarrassingly bad. They should have put a lot more elbow grease to it before releasing it, especially if they're trying to excite anyone.

Forget the acting. The lighting, camera work and the editing were total amateur hour. You can even see florescent tubes reflected in the (not activated?) bridge readout screens. The framing is clunky and uninteresting. The cutting is...was there any cutting? Outside of the transporter room it felt like there was no coverage in the other locations, what with the long held takes from a single POV as in the turbolift.

The writing was reallllllllllllllly bad. "Engage torpedoes, bring all hands on deck! Warp Speed!" Said captain 12 year old fan boy. Did anyone notice that the Vulcan said she was the science officer yet was in command red?

That didn't really bother me to be honest. I was more concerned with her performance, which I found rather lacking.

Holy crap, this is the worst piece of garbage I have seen. The lead actress is AWFUL. The total lack of competent dialogue or editing. This is horrid.

There have been other fan productions with just as many technical or storytelling problems, but the members here were a lot more forgiving. Problem for the Equinox crew is that they went multiple times to the crowdfunding well and I guess the current result was too obvious even back then.

Well, probably. I think the problem is I've just lost patience with the lot of the fan films. We're at the point of saturation now, at least when it comes to the Original Series era. Shit or get off the pot, but for pete's sake, at least make a watchable film.

I think part of it is that - if you have an oscar winning lead actor in your project, we assume you have professional people around him. Which was obviously not the case. Plus they claim they worked tirelessly for a year and spend ten of thousands of dollars. Well - for WHAT? A few tickets for the flight, a few hotel stays, what else? The money for the post that they raised in their last fundraiser probably went into the VFX (at least in those parts that look half decent). I just really feel bad and sad for Mr. Savage. I understood Mr. Blanco is his girl friend. Well, good for him! But don´t try to push her into acting - that is clearly not her thing.
