Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

Now that they've locked in Mack and Lincoln, that seems like just about everybody who could be reasonably expected to be a series regular. Is there anybody else? Patton Oswalt seems likely to stay as a guest star, not a regular. Maybe one or two of the Gonzales Shield leftovers, Agent Weaver or Calderon?
Oh yeah, I forgot Deathlok. He'll either be on Skye's team or show up to save the day once or twice like he did this season.
Oh yeah, Ian Quinn is still alive, isn't he?
I don't see Talbot or Blair Underwood becoming series regulars. Just guest appearances for them, like Patton Oswalt. Heck, I hope we haven't seen the last of Talbot.

I'm relieved that Mack will be a regular. His relationship with Fitz when Fitz was dealing with his brain damage was one of my favorite things in season two.
Very true, and I've come to see SHIELD as analogous to B5. But I hope she doesn't become as bad as Londo before she comes back.All that said, just because Simmons may go down a dark path, doesn't mean she'll never come back from it. Think of Londo's trajectory in B5. You still cared about him even when he was directly responsible for mass genocide and were rooting for him as he clawed his way back up. Sure, it finally caught up with him in the end, but again, that's drama for you.
Oh, I hated what they did to her at the end. She was my favorite character.
I thought she did very well as Illyria and doing that to Fred was extremely effective, especially after how they handled Cordellia's exit.
I'm just disappointed we only had Illyria for a handful or episodes.
Hmm, wouldn't it be a good twist if they pull an Illyria type situation with Simmons and have her become the MCU's Mar-Vel? I mean there's no reason why Mar-Vel would have to be male, right?

I wouldnt mind if they did something similar to Illyria with Simmons. I loved Amy Acker as Fred, but I loved her even more as Illyria. Of course Simmons is not as loveable character as Fred was, so the transformation should be even more drastic.
Illyria's last scene in Angel, from "Would you like me to lie to you now?" all the way to the "Take your best shot, little girl!" is in my opinion still one of the best scenes in television history

There is the other thing about not introducing major things on TV, assuming that MCU fans will watch all the movies for a second post credit sequence but not the TV show, even after social media comes and says this week's Agents had something important. And unless they change general policy Mar-Vel may be too big in the Captain Marvel origin story to assign it to Agents of SHIELD or Agent Carter.
Same here. I also liked Simmons as she was but have a feeling (with healer Lincoln becoming a full cast member) she's going to be gone forever too.

Well they've introduced to concept of Inhumans in AoS AND the means by which a lot of new enhanced are going to start popping up in the general populous. So never say never. Plus, in this instance it's not even 100% certain that Mar-Vel would even figure largely in Carol's origin story. Depending on the kind of story they're interesting in telling, he could be anything from an Abin Sur type character to a lifeless Kree artefact that goes off in her face.
It's possible they could re-imagine the character in AoS and never have to use him in the CM movie at all.
There were Roxxon Easter eggs in Iron Man 1-2, they were mentioned by name in in IM3, and were used more directly in Agent Carter and Daredevil. Coulson got gas at a Roxxon station in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Thor's Hammer". Agents of SHIELD has actually already had a Roxxon Easter egg of its own-- the gas station that blew up in 1.09, "Repairs", was a Roxxon station.
I remember those. Roxxon would be a major player now that hydra is gone (at least for now)

As I understand it, that wasn't exactly the plan longterm - it was just what the characters were supposed to think at the time. But then, the show was canceled, so the long term idea I guess doesn't matter anymore.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I'm pretty sure that's not quite what happened.
From what I recall there was a bit about her soul being gone, consumed and shredded into oblivion when Illyria took over her form.
On a show like Angel (and by extension, Buffy), that's just the writer's way of making it clear a character is *dead* dead. Like for real. Permanently. Ain't no amount spells, talismans, favours with eldrich gods or red headed witches covered in bodypaint shouting at the clouds is going to bring her back.
It made the loss feel much more real in a cast of characters that includes two who have technically been dead for centuries and one who got his head cut off without too much inconvenience.
