"Fate protects fools, little children, and ships named Enterprise."
Except it really doesn't.
Enterprise CV6 was scrapped despite being the most decorated ship in US Navy history
Enterprise CVN65 is currently being readied for scrapping despite being the first nuclear carrier and longest serving carrier in Navy history.
The shuttle Enterprise never flew in space and got kicked out as the centerpiece of the Air and Space museum in favor of Discovery. Although it did end up in NYC on the USS Intrepid.
The 1701 was destroyed in TSFS.
The 1701-A was destroyed in a non canon book.
The 1701-B was also destroyed in a non canon book.
The 1701-C was destroyed in combat. Brought back in a time rift and then destroyed again.
The 1701-D was destroyed many times in TNG. Then destroyed for good by an inferior opponent.
As far as I know the 1701-E and NX-01 haven't been destroyed.
So of 10 Enterprises, 5 were destroyed in combat. 2 were cut up despite their historical significance. 1 was a test ship that was kicked out of a place of honor with other historic planes to a lesser place. And 2 apparently survive but I'm sure will be destroyed in later works.
A 70% fatality rate for the ships doesn't seem like fate is really protecting them that much.
