"Agent Carter" season one discussion and spoilers

Agent Carter in 1940s LA? Hell yeah! That will be a fun location for the show and the era was right about the time Las Vegas was really starting up so they can visit there too.

Jarvis has to be back though and I suspect Angie will be too since her character is supposed to be an aspiring actress.
Yeah, LA should be a really fun new location. I agree about Jarvis and Angie too.

The reference to the Atomic Age makes me think they might be jumping ahead to the 1950s, and the Hollywood setting might mean the storyline involves Communist infiltration and blacklisting. But either 40s or 50s Hollywood will be a fun setting. I'd just hate to lose any of the characters from the first story.

I couldn't remember that because I didn't know it. :rommie: But maybe that's the possible new romance that they reference. It does put limits on how far they can jump, though, that's for sure.

Just wanted to add as a possible real-life story idea, not only Bugsy Siegel and Las Vegas but the Black Dahlia happened around that time too.

You're right about availability. Hopefully they can bring back some of the familiar faces.

^Well if they continue the theme of post-WWII professional women then perhaps in season three we'll see working mother trying to juggle home life, a husband and work in a world that still expects her to be a housewife. ;)

Remember that she's married by '53.

Married and had two children, so there's not much room for jumping ahead unless they want to gloss over a lot of that.
Yeah, that prospect doesn't excite me. Looks like it's 1950 at the latest. Or 1955, with the kids back east in daycare. :rommie:
Well, the video clip of her mentioning when Cap saved her future husband was filmed in '53, but the pics of her two kids were from her bedside in the modern day. They could come later down the line.

Fair enough, but even if it was a pretty fast marriage, she'd have to have met him in about 52 or so. I know that's 6 years away in show time, but it depends how big the jumps between seasons are.

Well, technically the McCarthy Era did kick off around 1950, and the Hollywood investigations started before that. And the Soviets tested their first bombs soon after WWII. So the story could still involve the Communism versus Anti-Communism slappy fight.

Whatever. I'm sure it will be great. They obviously know what they're doing.

I would like it if they mentioned Project Mogul!

Maybe they could even be involved in it and the cover story.

Maybe the big bad for this season will be the commie smasher Cap from the 50s. :p

If they're planning to continue telling pre-SHIELD stories, then we're locked into 1946.

What was happening in Los Angeles in May-June of that year that might draw the writing team's attention?

We don't know when the SSR became SHIELD.

Coulson's season 2 facility has SSR logos all over it and in Winter Soldier we see an SSR bunker at a military base, both of which don't seem to be around in 1946.

Zola is still only in a regular prison at the end of season 1, he's only beginning the events that will see him uploaded in the 1970's.

So we know the outfit grows throughout the 40's into a much larger group with military backing and multiple facilities in the 50's (the SSR camp in Winter Soldier has 1950's aesthetics but still SSR markings).

Actually no, it definitely had a SHIELD emblem very prominently displayed along with circa 1940's photos of Carter, Stark & Phillips. Indeed, Cap even suggests that this was where SHIELD first started. Which would make sense given the significance of the camp.

The SHIELD logo maybe, but the photos could have been taken years earlier then just picked out to use when the bunker was setup.

I don't think there'll be a huge jump to season 2 anyway, maybe 1948 at most, unless they want to imply the 1947 Roswell event was an SSR experiment with repulsor technology and start there.

Nevada isn't all that far off from LA for a setup to the season.

Ohh, not Roswell. I'm so sick of the Roswell myth. It gave us a killer Futurama episode and a funny DS9 episode, but it's been done entirely to death by this point so pleasepleasepleeeeeze let it die already.
