Didn't they say that the Even Odds was somehow involved in the Ascendants crisis in one of the post-Destiny books?

Plagues of Night did, although Taran'atar received a distress call from the Even Odds when he was returning home in The Soul Key.
If by "final salute" you mean that it's Garak's last appearance, then no, not at all... A character like that is WAY too awesome to leave alone!
4 chapters into Unity and I already find it a much more compelling book than Rising Son. In fact, I might have been too generous on Rising Son but I did like the second half of the book rather than the first. Unity though picks up with Lesser Evil takes off and I'm already noticing some things that the trek lit-verse can do better than the actual series.
For example, the chapter I read talked about the story of Audrid Dax going, with her husband on a mission to study the comet and encountering one of the parasites there. This was some awesome detail about who the parasites were, how close they were to the Trill Symbionts, and the cover ups involved (Referencing Equilibrium and how Trill is known to cover things up). It was just really gripping because we could never have stuff like this on a series. This relaunch is doing a great job developing not just Ezri but just Trill and the Symbionts in general that I am starting to think my next book will be The Lives of Dax, just because it's been so compelling. They also even referenced Christopher Pike, bringing 23rd and 24th century trek together.
I complained about a chapter in Rising Son being long because it was all exposition. Well, Unity had a 30 page chapter that was exposition but it was stuff we're already invested in. What SD Perry is already doing in this book is awesome and how the Parasites are being used and brought back is equally awesome.
Also, I've been trying to not say much but I was the one who started this thread, so keep that in mind if you're going to post stuff on books I haven't read yet. Thanks.![]()

Oh that's awesome to hear. I just thought that, that was the reason they gave the book to Andrew J. to write, as a final send off for the character and to bring him full circle. But that's great news![]()
RBoE?
We finally made it to Unity on Literary Treks!![]()
Looks like we are going to be wrapping up the DS9r as Ascendance comes out, so perfect timing.
