Spoilers TNG, DS9, and VOY - Where is a Good Place to Start?

Right, there's no "have to" here. This is recreation, not course study. All you have to do is what you feel like doing. And if you feel like reading a whole sequence of books in continuity order, the charts help you do that. Just like, say, a book of knitting patterns will help you if you feel like taking up knitting. The fact that the book exists doesn't mean you're required to knit everything in the book.

Well I finally finished the Worlds of DS9 Andor story a while back, oh my. It was the toughest slog of a star trek story I have ever read. I am not even going to rate it

I took a break from trek books for a bit but now am back. Just started Myriad Universes 2 Echoes and Refractions. I am totally digging this book. I will get a review up when I get done, which will probably be Wednesday :)

I see they updated the site. Looks good!

Oh yeah, I remember that. DS9: Paradigm was one of the very few Trek stories that I bought, read the first 10-50 pages and then decided to stop and just look up what happened on the internet.

I'm going to get into worlds of DS9 probably after the holidays. I took a break to read a hockey book (which I still haven't finished) but I'm still interested in the book universe. I think I need to find the right motivation.

Wow, I'm honestly shocked to see Paradigm get that kind of a reaction, I loved it.

^ My wife doesn't read treklit and is not a fan of tie-in fiction but enjoys Star Trek and sci-fi in general. I mentioned really enjoying Paradigm and she decided to pick it up. She loved it. She told me that it was a pretty good stand-alone story with a lot of interesting world building and great characters. I think it was a very unique story in treklit and I'm getting the impression that it's a love it or hate it type thing.

I can see the love it or hate it vibe. I think for me the story plot felt so forced. The author basically had to deal with the romantic tension that had been building from Avatar the start of the relaunch.

I am probably being too hard on the story. I just didn't find it engaging. It did do a lot of world building with Andor.

I have only one story left in the Myriad Universe book I am reading.... so a review is coming.

I think I have a general problem with Heather Jarman's writing. I also had a hard time reading This Gray Spirit.

When it comes to This Gray Spirit I had to force myself to finish reading it a few years ago. Of all the Ds9 books I've read I never liked this DS9 book very much.

Huh, there must be something with her writing that I haven't picked up on, because I've enjoyed every one of her books I've read.

I've had a similar problem with Death in Winter, The Valiant and Kahless. While I read Death in Winter I never finished the other two. The weird thing is that I really liked the premise of all these books, but there's something about Michael Jan Friedman's writing that I find incredibly boring. Except The First Virtue. For some reason I really liked that one.

Didn't he co-write TFV w/Christie Golden? Or am I thinking if another book?

The thing I remember about TGS was how disjointed it felt.

Yes it really is a Disjointed story and the story went on way too long .The Literary treks podcasts Hosts also said the same things about this book too. They're big Ds9 fans but they didn't like this book much either.

I really liked Kahless and Valiant but in thought Death in Winter was horrible. Dropped plot threads boring as can be.

I would love to see Michael Jan Friedman return to the Trek universe. Even J.M. Dillard. It's funny how those two helped start the post-Nemesis storyline, but we haven't seen any books since.

I also love Jarman and Paradigm.
I found most of Friedmon's work to be dull. I liked Reunion ok, but otherwise. Meh.
