It has been aired on TV. It first premiered on Pay-per-view then a Star Trek special in syndication during the late-80's.

The episode got chopped up and used in "The Menagerie".

I don't understand. I think both "The Cage" and "The Menagerie" are in color.

    DS9 - "Shadow Play"

Under-rated episode in my opinion. Existential isolation where a character uses fantastic technology or mysterious powers to help one cope with that isolation. Trek visits this theme many times throughout all five series. Flint. Kevin Uxbridge. Marayna. Tarquin. And Colyus.

I think it's interesting that every series has at least one episode with this theme, yet it's not often discussed.

There's also Ezral. Granted they were two, but it's close enough to your examples, in my opinion.

They cut the pieces of film they needed out of the only known color copy of "The Cage" at the time.

I'm sure Harvey could provide more details.

(I personally feel this should be listed as required viewing for anyone who wishes to know what Star Trek is about as whole. The issues it raises are entirely relevant as our technology advances and it doesn't need a knock down drag out fist fight to convey the message.)

ENT: Precious Cargo and The Catwalk, streamed on Netflix.

Precious Cargo: Dull and unoriginal. Hollywood has told this story, or something similar, at least one hundred times, from The African Queen to Romancing the Stone.

The Catwalk: I enjoyed this one very much, there was a real sense of tension as the crew had to not only survive the technobabble-storm, but also had to deal with the militia crew that was attempting to hijack the ship. This is probably one of my favorite Enterprise episodes, certainly in my top ten.

I'm currently working on a massive, and supremely indulgent, rewrite of Voyager. The last episode I watched was "Caretaker" to that effect.

    Otherwise, it was "Amok Time".

I need to make some time to watch "The Chase", though, because it's one of the few episodes I have absolutely no recollection of; I might have only seen it as a kid.

Not having seen this in a while and knowing the amount of hate directed at it in these forums, I watched this with some mild trepedation. Perhaps it was not as good as I remembered and reported? ... No worries! This episode is a lot of fun to watch - it was most enjoyable! What I may not have noticed before, however is that Jolene Blalock looks very cute in this one, in a way that she hasn't on STAR TREK, before - even the Mirror Universe 2 parter, which everyone else drools over. I don't know exactly what it was, but I suspect it's to do with her make-up and her hair seems tinted and just looks better in general. As to liking the episode, overall, I wasn't overly concerned with the logic of the TNG gimmick, Frakes or Siritis being too old, or any of that stuff. It wanted to be entertaining and it worked. It was a successful show, in that regard ...
