Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

I don't think even Wolverine can survive being dissected and having his organs in jars, but maybe she's better at healing than that?

That makes me wonder if one of these super healling people were chopped in half, would both halves grow back?

If Woverine needs help, can he volntarily visit a saw mill and have two of him?

If he needs lots of help, can he jump into a wood chipper?

Yeah, like a lot of super-hero logic, Wolverine's healing factor gets sillier the more you dissect it (pardon the pun.) ;)

But hey, I'm not saying it has to be Sky's mum, just that it's a possibility. If memory serves, there's a fair amount of precedent in comics for immortal/slow ageing characters to have regenerative healing, not just Logan. Vandal Savage leaps to mind, as does Mystique, Lobo as well as certain versions of Sabretooth and Martian Manhunter.

With that in mind, I think it's fair to say that nothing we saw done to Sky's mum totally precludes the possibility. Of course it would raise the rather gruesome possibility that believing her dead, Cal buried her body and she had to claw her way out of her grave once she was done regenerating.

I'm pretty sure Skye's mom and Whitehall are both done and gone, but the notion of locking Cal and Whitehall in a room together and having Cal kill him over and over again every day for the next few decades holds some appeal.

She was too weak, and possibly too unconscious to say "Hey dude, I'm not dead."

Or...

"She was only pretending to be dead, because she didn't have the balls to break up with Cal face to face, and consequently hurt his fragile feelings."

The second we heard 33's voice from offscreen, I knew what she was going to look like.

Lol for Talbot having nothing better to do than talk about lawnmowers, but I do like that he immediately figured out what was going on.

They've established a particular look for Helicarriers in the movies, and also - per "Beginning of the End" - that they used regular CVNs as well. Exterior shots looked a little too "real" to be the former.

It was kinda surreal to see Adama as head of New SHIELD. I have a feeling Bobbi is going to turn on her colleagues. There may be hope for her yet.

So, today's episode. Gonzales is worse than I ever possibly imagined. I like how they didn't mention that Coulson's weird behavior still ended up saving lives, and played a part in stopping HYDRA from getting a powerful weapon of Mass Destruction, the same one that killed Gonzales's BFF Hartley. Hopefully the "Gonzales situation" ends badly. I wonder if Coulson's plane has an airlock. Coulson putting Skye in a cabin was lame, but hopefully that means she's free to take out Gonzales or the two traitors after the fake SHIELD attacks.

Also, from the episode:

Mockingbird: Skye isn't the main concern. Coulson and his secrets? That's the threat. And I think that its time that we remove that threat.

Yep, she certainly doesn't sound like she plans to kill him. In fact, from that line, I'm sure she's going to give him a gift certificate and a cup saying "World's Best SHIELD Director" This was possibly the worst episode of the entire series so far. The only good points were Coulson and Skye talking in the plane, Hunter escaping the fake SHIELD and Fitz's verbal takedown of Simmons.

The Ward/33 stuff was pointless, as far as I can see they accomplished nothing except fixing 33's mask. Talbot was as annoying and stupid as ever. I hate Gonzales more than even I expected, and now I really can't stand to see Mac and Mockingbird live through this. Still, I'm hoping I get lucky and the payoff is a very permanent end to the Gonzales/traitors storyline. If not, it will be disappointing but really I just want to see the end of this storyline, whether or not the story ends how it should (Gonzales and the traitors dead) or how it probably will (the real SHIELD damaged and Coulson having to reform it again next season). i'm sure the next storyline will be cool, if it means struggling through this one, then so be it.

Underestimating Ward has proven to be a big mistake. ;) Best not to assume his actions are pointless given Bakshi's predicament.

While Gonzo and Company did make solid arguments supporting their attitude towards Coulson, you're on the mark as to how they glossed over the results of his actions. Major blows against the enemy, major wins- at a cost, for the defenders of Earth. If they were that concerned about Phil's capacity to lead SHIELD, then the discovery of an ancient alien city coveted by HYDRA and it's removal from their grasp should have lead them to emerge from the shadows and sit down with him and hash out their concerns. But no, they can't do that because it would make too much sense and deprive us of SHIELD on SHIELD smackdowns.

I wouldn't call this the worse episode of the season, I rather enjoyed it. Trying to figure out whether Ward was going full on Garrett with Agent 33, the comical Talbot and his exasperated aide, and the compete shock of having Hunter of all people being the smartest guy in a room, priceless. :)

Talbot/Pasdar was the star of tonight's episode.

I liked it overall, seemed like some good set-up for next week and beyond. Glad Coulson and May saw through Mack's lies pretty quickly.

As for the carrier (possible helicarrier), did you guys see how loaded that deck was? Not only did they have a number of submersibles beyond the one that Hunter escaped in, but the deck was loaded with quinjets. Gonzalez has quite an arsenal. I also noticed the US flag on display in the command center.

So here's my question: how in the world do people like Coulson, and even Talbot too, not know about this gigantic army that Gonzalez has? Especially since Gonzalez says he doesn't like secrets and wants to be out in the open. (And based on that flag, is operating under some sort of US government control.)

If Gonzalez built up RealShield without Coulson having any clue, then Coulson has no business being director of Shield, that's a major failure on his part.

Was Gonzalez secretly Talbot's boss, ordering him to chase down the remnants of Shield that weren't under Gonzalez's control?

On the other hand, this could certainly answer the question of what happened to all the Shield agents that Talbot had locked up. And it would account for what happened to all the people in the huge Shield organization that we had seen previously.

Perhaps there could be 2 Shields after this. A large public force under the command of Gonzalez, and a small secret team under the command of Coulson that goes after a different type of threat.

Finally, it was bugging me all night, but I finally remembered where I saw that guy that sat at Gonzalez's right hand at the table, he was on The Walking Dead.
