What are you watching???

Watched "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" this weekend, for probably the first time since 1968.

Probably going to have the title song stuck in my head for the rest of the weekend! :)

Hockney

Documentary on BBC2 about David Hockney which was very interesting stuff. My favourite bit was when that guy said, "LA is just another Bradford". Speaking as a Bradfordian, I can confirm that this is true ;)

The guy has clearly lived a fascinating life

Forever

Still watching this. Ioan Gruffudd is very watchable but time to up the supernatural element please. A few forgettable episodes and a boring Adam reveal aside, it's very good (mostly cos of Gruffudd)

Charlie Brooker's weekly wipe

Always pretty good but I'm starting to get bored of Brooker's shtick. Philomena Cunk is good though

Planning to catch BATES MOTEL tonight.

Call me conservative, but I prefer Hitchcock´s movie Psycho and Robert Blochs novel. Didn´t like Gus van Sants remake. Looked up, if Bates Motel has already been shown on German free-tv. That´s the case, but I missed out on that. :)

I love the original, too. But I've been enjoying this prequel so far. And the kid who does the young Norman is practically channeling Anthony Perkins sometimes.

Norman and his mom have their issues, but I'm sure everything will turn out well in the end . . . :)

(Just last week, Norman promised Norma that he'd NEVER spy on a guest when they're taking a shower again, so thank goodness that's not going to be problem down the road!)

Then I should watch out for a rerun in German TV. I´m glad they changed the killing method under the shower in the movie. Just stabbing is better than beheading :D

First Dates Channel 4

Another simple premise that works pretty well

We basically watch people on first dates in an actual restaurant that has been set up with cameras. The gay couple were cute but how in the hell did that guy (a mentally bizarre clown) convince that (very attractive) woman to go on a second date? I can only assume she hasn't had any for quite some time

Finished watching Almost Human and really liked it. The chemistry between the two leads is good, the effects are slick and the 2048 society is both convincingly futuristic but also recognisable. Mackenzie Crook does the tech nerd comic relief stuff very nicely but the other (mostly female) characters dont get much to get their teeth into. The murder of the week stuff is sometimes a little forgettable but you could see that they were building a bigger world with interesting concepts such as "the wall" and chromes etc.

Might have been nice to see where that was all going

Any show where the lead is called John is always a good start especially when the surname has an x in it

The Royals

Liz Hurley (From Austin Powers) as "The Bloody Queen of England" manipulating her drunk, stoned, sexually depraved prince and princess children to live up to her impossible standards.

It's also a retelling of (a prequel to) Hamlet, so Liz is going to marry her brotherinlaw who murdered her husband eventually, probably at the end of season one.

The Royals is a glitzy night time soap set in an alternate reality with a different British royal family, but almost everything else is exactly the same.
