Hawaii 5-0 Season FIVE

The last episode definitely should have been a two parter! Am I the only one bummed we didn't get a dramatic rescue where Steve & co. storm in to save Danny? I wanted Steve to at least beat the crap out of that one guard who was especially cruel to Danny. Even if they couldn't storm the prison, it would have been nice to see something more dramatic than Steve just driving Danny home from the airport to see Grace.

The pen scene was pretty awesome. Did not see that coming! I imagine we'll see Chin's brother in law again sometime. I hope so!

Agree! I was wondering how they'd wrap it all up in 15 minutes or less. After destroying $1 billion in drugs, but just a cell phone vine video? Yeah, OK.

Now, wasn't it just LAST episode, where Danny got stabbed? He should've died of internal bleeding! Sheesh.. he seems to be 5-0's version of Checkov or Harry Kim?

Definitely sorry to see Robert Knepper's character go...it would have been interesting to have him, not just with an eyepatch (shades of Prison Break), but be on the team's side (or have a different angle, at least).

Think it was a couple of eps back that he got stabbed - last week was the stakeout/bromance with Steve in the apartment.

But I guess they have good insurance or 5-0 has a big medical budget given what Danny and Steve go through.

Not to mention some Star Trek-like doctoring. The numerous beatings he took in prison, and he comes home with just a couple of scratches on his face.

Yeah, Danny should have been in the hospital for sure. He got the crap beat out of him twice--and that second beating by the guards looked really bad. I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but I guess it was another Danny-less episode and from the preview I saw, Steve made some mention of how Danny would be back in a week. Maybe he was supposed to be recuperating then? Still, I think we should have seen him in much worse shape when he got out of that prison. And definitely with more than few scratches (though he was holding his side when he was walking towards Grace, but then didn't he pick her up (or maybe they just hugged)?

Interesting twist towards the end but generally though this week's ep was a bit of a stinker.

And you always have to have trust in the guy who's shaving you using a straight edge aka cut throat razor but I know from experience nothing quite matches it :)

Correct on both counts.

I rather liked this one. Though the Danny missing every other episode is getting old.

Found a news report from just over 12 months ago that he was cast in a major film production which could explain his absence.

The eps he's absent were probably filmed in a block but not shown that was so they don't have to come up with an explaination as to why he's missing for so many weeks.

Though I'm sure recovering from being stabbed and the time in Colombian prision he could have returned to the mainland for for time to recovery.

Scott Caan lives in Los Angeles with his girlfriend and their daughter. Believe it or not but Caan and his girlfriend didnt like living in Hawaii so they moved back to LA a few years ago.

Haha, yeah, I've heard that about Scott Caan, too. I can't fault someone for wanting to be where he grew up/thinks of at home. I think it's pretty obvious he would have left the show years ago if he didn't have a contract, which is why I bet if the show does come back next year, it will be the last season. The actors are typically contracted for six seasons so after that he can probably fly the coop.

I still haven't watched last week's episode. Episodes without Danno just don't have the same feel. I'm really into the show because of the Steve/Danno relationship and banter--I think it's what distinguishes the show from every other procedural on CBS.

I'll watch it eventually though. I think the next new episode isn't until April!

Just watched Friday's ep and talk about a non-entity.

Brief scenes of Grover with McGarret, Kono and Chin was all we saw of the team together.

Danny and the female M.E well that could have been filmed in L.A for all we know. Zilch interaction with the others.

I still need to see Friday's episode. I liked the preview scene with Danny and the ME stuck in the elevator--nice to see a callback to Danny's claustrophobia. But yeah, I'm kind of bummed he's not with the rest of the team.

I did finally catch the episode before. It was kind of ridic with the crazy shootout at the barbershop, but I did like the twist that the kid was actually a killer! And then the end with Steve looking through all the pictures of the victims and actually crying.

This week's episode with the Elvii looks like it has the potential to be funny!

It's been a few weeks since I tuned in. Sounds like the last couple episodes haven't been much to write home about.

Well, i'm actually gratefully they're spreading the love around and not making it the McGarrett show with some diverse extras.

And with Danno in the elevator, i'm glad they at least had Chin's input as a fellow officer, and his experience with "police intuition".

Hopefully, as they've worked through this season, the producers can see how to make next season's Hawaii Five-0 are real TEAM show.

I caught up on them this weekend. I liked the last two episodes. I haven't had any problem with the quality of the show recently, though.

I thought the Grover-centric episode was good, but I wish they'd given us a little more to go on than Grover has a gut feeling that his friend of twenty years killed his wife. I feel like we were definitely supposed to believe Grover, and I'm just not sure what tipped him off. Maybe that was the point. Anyways, it looks like they might follow that up at some point so I guess we'll see what unfolds.

I liked the bit with Danno stuck in the elevator. I love that they delved into his claustrophobia a little and that Shaw was able to find a way to keep it at bay. I hope this doesn't mean he's "cured" of it or something like that, but I liked how Shaw handled him. Poor Danno--his misery is good entertainment, lol.

The Elvii mystery was fun, too. I'm all for the team dynamic and having everyone get their moment in the spotlight. I wouldn't mind a little more Steve and Danno interaction though. Their banter is just my favorite thing about the show.

We watched these two out of order (my DVR didn't record the Grover episode, which we figured out partway through the Elvii episode).

I think Grover said his trip to Chicago was a bust, except for the pizza, which makes it even more frustrating. I'm guessing they'll get back to this before the season (series?) finale. I believe Grover, but he needs some solid evidence.

And I understand the need to keep up appearances, but I didn't necessarily think it was a good idea for Grover to involve his wife by having her take Clay's phone and then leave her alone with him. If he killed his own wife, what's to stop him from killing Grover's wife to cover-up his wife's murder?

I'm not a psychologist (I don't even play one on TV), but I'm thinking it's a sign that Danno was not really, clinically claustrophobic. I think he does it more to draw attention to himself more than he does because he truly has issues.

I loved the ending with Jerry, was that really Jorge Garcia singing?

I'm not a big fan of Chin's storyline. It reeks of "Gee, we haven't focused on Chin in a while, how can we mess with him, I mean give him a storyline?"

Think we're also going to see more of the Adam/Kono crap which I thought had been wound up :(

and yes appearently that was Jorge Garcia singing at the end.

^Yeah, I think there's definitely more Adam/Kono drama to come. That was totally Wo Fat's dad, right?

I watched them out of order, too! And yeah, I agree… it was risky for Grover to involve his wife. I think that was supposed to illustrate what a team they are, which is cool--yay for healthy marriages on TV!--but I was really nervous for her when she went to get the phone.

And yeah, they'll have to get back it at some point. Hopefully the last episode of the season is just the season finale and not the series!

Danny can totally be a drama queen, but his freak out in the elevator seemed genuine. I think he bitches at Steve sometimes just to bitch, but with Dr. Shaw there didn't seem to be any reason to have a meltdown on her. It wasn't like she had purposefully trapped them in the elevator. And while Danny does like to blame Steve for everything under the sun, he doesn't seem to do that with other people. It'll be interesting to see if his claustrophobia ever comes up again. It has a few times since he first mentioned it, like when he and Steve were trapped after the explosion, but this is the first time we've actually seen him panic about it.

I feel like they don't quite know what to do with Chin. His story lines have never really been the best, though I did like his relationship with Malia and was sorry to see her get killed off.
