Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

So by the time the Inhumans show up on the big screen now, Agents of SHIELD (if for arguments sake it's still around) will have finished its sixth season.

That's weird to think of.

If the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are Inhumans, which 10 seconds of googling suggests is only still a maybe, then the Inhumans were already in Winter Soldier, although "Daisy" has been an Inhuman retroactively since the pilot of Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Wanda and Pietro's MCU origins were just revealed with the release of the official comic prelude to Age of Ultron, released exclusivly on digital.

They don't seem to be Inhumans. Their powers were somehow unlocked by Loki's staff.

Sometime I can't read a comic book if the art is awful.

I took a look in that, and shut the book immediately.

... if they're not going to do any more One-Shots...

Is this just a random scenario or did you hear something that I didn't?

Captain America: The Winter Soldier didn't have one. Guardians of the Galaxy, I believe, has had their DVD released as well and I don't recall hearing anything about a One-Shot.

James Gunn said they wanted to use the room on the Guardians BD for more Guardians content so they didn't do one.

There is such a concept as additional online media you can link to on the disc, as well as add a download/streaming code buyers of the disc get access to.
Content is not necessarily tied to the disc space anymore these days.

Sure, but maybe the thought was that even today access to either of those isn't trivial - it can be confusing for some people.

Don't want to make excuses for it because I would've loved to have seen one.

I haven't seen any news sites reporting that the One-Shots are done but having two DVD/BR releases without them doesn't look promising. It's a shame cause it was the reason I would get the BR. I was content to just get the DVD of GotG.
No One-Shot, no hook for me to get the BR.

I've just assumed that Marvel doesn't have the time or resources or NEED to make the One-Shots anymore. With Agent Carter, AOS, the 5 Netflix shows, an expanded movie schedule, and who knows what else up their sleeves, there's really no need to expand the MCU further via One-Shots.

Yeah, the key to keep in mind is the one-shots were to get you to buy the BluRays. I doubt they're worried about that anymore.

Does that really rule out them being Inhumans? Couldn't Loki's staff have just taken the place of the Terrigen Mist?

It would be a neat way to tell Spider-Man's MCU origin without having to use another movie to tell it again.
Perhaps, but at this point that's hardly even necessary since everyone already knows at least the basic gist of it.

There's no proof either way (obviously) but it's safe to say that an infinity gem is several orders of magnitude more powerful than anything the Kree might have done with the human genome, so it can probably do all that and more to any human, with or without them being latent Inhumans. That's even assuming the gem had anything to do with unlocking their powers. It's just as likely it was being used as a means of controlling them, as it was used by Loki and nothing more.

Someone named Drea de Matteo has been cast as a villain named Karla Faye Gideon. In the comics that character is just a battered wife from a Daredevil story. So that's weird.

^Yeah, it seems like this is going to be that character in name only, ala Erik Koenig.

Koenig was at least somebody that knew Nick Fury. That's probably more in common than this character has with the source material. He's also, while obscure, at least someone somebody might recognize and think is cool.

I read the story (it's actually a great story) and I a) didn't immediately recognize the name and b) didn't quite think it was cool.

Don't get me wrong, there are aspects of the character that might be interesting, but those aspects would probably come off as tacky when combined with superpowers. And, without those aspects, it's just borrowing a random name.
