It works for me !

Lots of mutants outside the main 'X' team. I haven't read the comics for over two decades, but I can remember The New Mutants, X Factor, X Force, Generation X, Excalibur and I'm pretty sure there were more recent teams like Mutant X, X Academy etc. They might even be able to use Alpha Flight characters.

There's loads of characters and stories they could do. You might even see one of the senior team occsionally, although I'd expect some 'distance', maybe even being based around Muir Isle and McTaggart...

They'd never do it, but I'd love to see something like X-Factor or Generation X (adapted correctly this time) on TV. Heck, X-Factor could even be an investigation group like in Peter David's second run. A mutant PI show seems like something that would be a popular idea with TV makers. Generation X actually seems like something that would fit better with The CW I guess, but I think it could be interesting (even if they couldn't use Emma Frost as Banshee as teachers if they connect the show with the movies).

Powers is in production right now, I believe it debuts on March 10.

yep, just looked it up:

There already was a Generation X movie on Fox.

And interestingly, its Banshee was played by Jeremy Ratchford, the same actor who did the voice of Banshee in the '90s X-Men animated series.

Okay, it's not that interesting -- but it's practically the only interesting thing about the movie.

the dark world was not avoided in the future. I remember there was follow up book called days of future present.

I think people are giving bryan dinger to muck of a hard time for given kitty secondary mutation.

Think of it this way.

an alternate emma starts off as a telepath then as time goes by she develops secondary mutation by changing her skin to diamond.

in the original comics, kitty goes back in time but as that would have been illogical in the film universe it was only fair kitty be the one to send another person back in time.

Why would it be illogical? The way it is the DOFP movie resets all of the X-Men movies save First Class. Days Of Future Present hadn't happened yet by that point and even that future was averted. The movie even has Bishop in it which further complicates matters since he's from an alternate future set after the alternate future where the Sentinals take over the United Statse.

comic bishop comes from the age of apocalypse time line, he has nothing to do with the bishop in the movie. the comics still mentions Rachel coming from a dark future

The comic book showed that future, the point of the story was to prevent it from happening which was done by the actions of Kate Pryde. The only reason the movie used Wolverine is because Wolverine a hugely popular character and Hugh Jackman has become a huge box office draw for the most part.

Well, I'd like to see a PI show with X-Factor. Plus, FOX has nothing to do with that show, and its airing on PSN (which probably has a really small viewer based even compared to Netflix or Hulu). Also, Private Investigators do not equal police detectives. Powers isn't even remotely competition for a FOX superhero show, even if FOX went for a PI style X-Factor show.

Yeah, I know. I mean a good adaptation, with good writing, a Jubilee who is actually played by an Asian actress and with an Emma Frost who can't open physical portals to the dream world. Actually, it wouldn't use Emma anyway if it was connected to the movie universe, but you get what I mean. I consider the TV movie a "so bad its god" experience, but as a fan of the comic the TV movie didn't even remotely do it justice. Having a TV movie in the 90s doesn't mean they can't do something with the property again.

btw, are they still going ahead with re-releasing DOFP in cinemas some time this year, as a "Directors/Extended Cut"?

I don't think that was ever the plan
Well it was. Found it, knew I hadn't dreamt it :)

Although it seems now, yes, it has changed (sensibly as I thought) to just a DVD/blu-ray release
It was never going to be theatrical. That site seems to have misunderstood the tweet/s.

James Finn: X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST available on Digital HD across digital stores on 9/23. Blu-ray on 10/14.

Connor Blackburn: Is this extended, or is that coming later?

James Finn: Theatrical. Extended is coming next year.

James says nothing about a theatrical release of the extended version, only that it is coming in 2015.

Yeah I thought that when I reread it, that it was perhaps whoever wrote the article who got confused. Still, I knew I had it in my head from somewhere.

So to shift/change the question then- will we all be paying out for this alternate version again?

I really wanna wait and see how much it's changed really before spending another £15 buying the same movie.

I never paid for the theatrical version in the first place.

Self-control is the antidote to double dipping.

I got DOFP on DVD because I knew of the Rouge-Cut and will get the final(?) version on Blu, that saves some money (I'm a completist and like to own more or less all available cuts of a movie I like).

If Gotham proves to be a continued success, it would be interesting to see FOX having TV shows each set in the Marvel and DC universes at the same time.

^And I can just see some clueless FOX exec wondering why they can't cross-over.

Well, theoretically, why couldn't they? Marvel and DC have done crossover comics before. And back in the '60s, William Dozier's Batman and The Green Hornet shows were able to cross over even though they were adapting characters from different owners.

I'm not saying it would be a good idea, mind you, but it's not automatically impossible.

Well, it might have to do with the lease for the IP. They certainly can cross over if their contracts allow for it.

I'd imagine Marvel has it in their all contracts with the movie studios that their characters can't cross over. It would be there to protect their IP.

If they don't, they soon will.

I doubt the Gotham contract has anything of the sort...why would it ?
