Heck, Voyager already did an interstellar drag race episode--and somehow managed to make it boring!
Now I want a 15-minute high speed chase scene through an endless engine room.
Well, Kirk did love his fast cars and bikes back in the 2009 movie.
Maybe he's got a couple of them parked in Enterprise's hangar, 5 years out in unknown regions of space can get boring
Perhaps a Dune Buggy chase.
Maybe they've got some left over from NEM?
because many felt that Brandon Routh looked 'effeminate' (gay) and that he didn't kick enough ass as Superman (although many are now strangely nostalgic for Superman Returns and love it over Man Of Steel!)
I've honestly never heard this complaint about Routh in Superman Returns, but then again, if Christopher Reeve were alive and the same age and shape today as the 1978 movie, he would've been passed up for being not gigantic enough like your Cavills, Jackmen, Hardiess, Hemsworths, and Evanses.
Actually, Reeve had been working out with David Prowse and (IIRC) Jack O'Halloran (Non) for a while before filming to get the definition needed to look like Superman; I don't think the above-mentioned guys were any more different than him body-wise.
As for the complaints about Routh looking 'effeminate' and not kicking enough ass as Superman? Go to sites like Superhero Hype, check out the BBS's, and you'll see what I mean.
Because Thunderbirds needs puppets, and that film had no puppets.
Team America: World Police was a better Thunderbirds film than Thunderbirds.

About 2 months before the film came out here, in my local mall therew was a big poster for it. I stopped to admire it. So did a significant number of other guys in their 30s and 40s. The film was not made for them, and that is exactly who it should have been aimed at, with some stuff to appeal to teens. The same audience as Transformers, in effect.
Riker had his crack, he aiun't the guy for this. Does a solid job on shows like Leverage though (with the odd cameo
).

if Frakes had ended up directing Total Recall 2 with Arnie or a version of Superman (he was involved with both those in the late 90s/early00s) then hed probably be directing big movies today. THEN hed have probably got Trek 3 after JJ left
or if as you say Thunderbirds had been a hit somehow and not such a colossal flop (puppets? or at least about adults not kids) then again he could've still been doing big movies today
When I saw Thunderbirds on opening weekend, I was literally the only person in the theater.
Even though Frakes was never right for and/or going to get the job of directing STAR TREK 3, it is good to see how fond people still are of him. He's certainly always been there for the fans, with conventions & whatnot. He's also stated that he will always play the part of Riker, whenever offered to him ...

Maybe if some Trek fans weren't so "tired of Star Trek on TV" he wouldn't be in-between Trek paychecks as often.
Everything has a shelf life.
Even if Star Trek was still on TV, there's no proof that it would be a source of income for the former actors, beyond residuals from their series work. Which they have anyway.

I wouldn't mind seeing them direct episodes, though not because they're Trek actors, but because I've liked their previous work.
I honestly would not be surprised if Frakes made more money from a few directing gigs a year than an entire season of playing Riker.

Well, yeah, there is that, but Frakes always seems genuinely enthusiastic about playing Riker, and about Trek in general. (Similar to, say, Zach Quinto, who fought long and hard to play nuSpock and is obviously having a great time doing it.) You don't get an attitude like that from a lot of actors.
