Roberto Orci Not Directing Trek XIII

well yeah, i'd much prefer talking trek than BEING BROW-BEATEN... =(

What exactly did you expect? You come in here with how much you hate the films with no substance as to why and accusing the director of embezzling money.

I think the films have a ton of flaws. But damn, they are fun to watch.

Seeing as this is a thread with a specific purpose, I amnot Herbert, you may wish to discuss any comments you have about the overall website in the "Questions, Suggestions, & Feedback" forum.

Thanks for the tip, my friend! =)

However, these issues have only arisen ON THIS THREAD =(

Perhaps some here are trying to throw me under the bus? =(

I would expect it maybe sometime in January but who knows.

What was the original release date for nuST:III?

Wasn't it summer 2016?

IMDb's entry simply says 2016. Say 6-8 months for principal photography and 10-12 months for post production, that leaves at least four months for them to hire a director and clean up script/rewrite. So December 2016 is what I would guess, and a new director announcement by February at the latest.

BillJ for whatever reason I amnot Herbert appears to be baiting posters. I would just ignore him.

you are NOT supposed to be attacking me because of my ideas!

Please stop your immature behavior, or i will be tempted to complain to the mods...

why are all you BR-lovers in the "Hated it" thread? perhaps there is a thread more suited for you? so you don't have try and chase me away from this one?

All threads are open to everyone.

I've seen no one attack you. But you'd likely have an easier time if you added some substance to your posts? Are you capable of doing that?

Be my guest.

December 2016 seems reasonable. And it'd be kind of amusing, in that the 25th anniversary movie was released in December 1991, too. Christmas presents every anniversary.

OK, maybe I'm the only person who finds that amusing, I don't know.

I wonder if a holiday release would be seen as negatively impacting sales, though. It's a complex discussion and perception changes over time with this stuff, but I recall Paramount specifically shifting Trek 09 into Summer 2009 territory because they believed it had the makings to be a bigger success as such.

If that wavelength continues then it isn't beyond the realm of possibility that they'll want to rush this tbing for Summer 2016, but at a certain point they'll need to examine the issue and make a determination over whether or not that'll potentially lower quality (ergo damage its word of mouth) too much in the process.

The summer tent pole season is so crowded that I can see the big studios trying out a new "blockbuster" season. The success of the latest Hunger Games was credited in part to its release date (Thanksgiving) and complete lack of blockbuster competition. So perhaps studios will read off of that success and try releasing some tent-pole films during the holiday season.

With more and more big-budget movies coming out, I think they (the studios) have to start exploring other times of the year to release as there just isn't enough money to go around during the summer to support them all.

Plus, Star Trek is still decidedly minor-league compared to some other franchises. So a move to winter would seem to be in order anyway.

Anyone remember off the top of their head what else comes out in Summer & Winter 2016?

As of right now according to Movie Insider Some of the big ones are:

May 2016
May 6 Captain America: Civil War
May 27 X-Men: Apocalypse Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass

June 2016
Jun 3 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2
Jun 17 Finding Dory
Jun 24 Independence Day 2

July 2016
Jul 15 The Bourne Legacy 2
Jul 22 Power Rangers
Jul 29 Planet of the Apes 3

August 2016
Aug 5 Suicide Squad

ETA: Avatar 2 is supposed to come out in December 2016, so I would imagine other studios would want to avoid it's release date and subsequent weekends.

OK, I found this:

"Do not post more than twice in a row in the same thread. If you need to answer more than one person in the thread, please use the quote function."

Which until now i have been ignorant of, but NOW I KNOW. =)

ALL MY LOVE to Dennis & BillJ! you guys obviously need a hug and a cupcake <3

First Star Wars standalone is suppose to release in December 2016.

If they could make May 13, 2016 they'd have two weeks before X-Men: Apocalypse.

May & possibly December look pretty tough, competition wise.
I guess we'll first have to see what's going to happen with the director and when filming starts. May might end up not being an option at all.
