The Flash - Season 1

^ So everybody just imagined the episode stinger with the yellow suit and the Tacyhon device?

BTW, said stinger follows a pattern that's already been used for both Seasons 1 and 2 of Arrow wherein something pivotal to the season's overall story arc has been revealed during the closing moments of episode 9 (aka the midseason finale). Said stinger reveal was also handled very nearly identically to the way the Arrow S1 reveal of Malcolm Merlyn being the Dark Archer was.

Yeah Wells doesn't just have the ring and the costume, he spoke in the same voice too. So he's pretty clearly supposed to be at least some version of Reverse-Flash.

Time-travel is already complicated enough without introducing multiple versions of the same character, so I doubt we'll see another Reverse Flash show up.

The second speedster present the night Nora Allen was murdered is likely going to be Barry himself (since said speedster generated red lightning).

So I thinking about all this time travel stuff, since we know Wells has knowledge of the future, and his room is like super futuristic, maybe he's actually from the distant future. And his ring is like a personalized Legion ring.

I am wondering if we will get episode exploring what if Nora Allen lived into the present. Perhaps not exactly the same as the Flashpoint storyline but similar.

(You probably know all this, it's entry level shit, but I luv the sound of my own voice.)

The Flash (sometimes in the comics) wears a "gold" coloured mental ring with a stylized lightning bolt on the front with a pop off lid on a hinge that "ejects" a super condensed folded up Flash costume into the air immediately in front of "Barry" that he "jumps" into as he suits up. This is his "iconic" transformation moment like Wonder Woman "spinning" or Clark Kent running into a phone box.

It's not a legion Flight Ring, stylized or otherwise.

When Barry's grandson Bart (who was raised in the 30th century and then marooned in the 20th) was given a Flash ring, during a coming of age moment, he mistook his Flash ring for a Legion flight ring and jumped off the roof of his garage thinking that he could fly.

This still doesn't explain why the ring was acting as a key unless the "room" is somehow very Flashcentric. Wells might have stolen the Library/time machine off the Reverse Flash Like Henry Starling stole the USS Aeon off Captain Braxton in that episode of Voyager were they go to 1996.

Wells "appeared" 3 months after Nora died.

He's guilty as sin.

What's up with the red eyes? Are his powers broken?

If the Reverse Flash is Well's past, they he probably has unavoidable steps to go through to "fix/cure" the reverse Flash and become himself who is sane and healthy.

If the Reverse Flash is Well's Future, then he's clearly an idiot to embrace that destiny because the Reverse Flash's powers are clearly broken along with his mind... Unless Harry thinks that he might need to replace Barry to save the world from the Crisis in 2024 since Barry Allen can't seem to keep his shit together as the time lines keep fluctuating.

If Blackout cancels the Flash's powers, and the Reverse Flash's powers are opposite, then it's possible that the "blackout" effect will multiple Zooms' upper speed limits and start all this overclocked Flash business that we have been observing since the pilot and THAT'S WHAT MAKES TIME-TRAVEL POSSIBLE!

Goodness gracious! This is the first time I've understood what Guy has said. I've never read the Flash comics, so thanks for the info.

Why would Harry have a Flash ring if he wasn't a Flash?

The Ring opens doors in the time machine.

Are we sure that that "room" is just a time machine?

Maybe the Newspaper is an exhibit?

What if that Reverse Flash Costume in the Time Machine is another exhibit?

How many more exhibits are there?

Wouldn't that mean that the time machine is probably the Flash Museum or part of the Flash Museum and that Wells is a curator and the Flash Ring is probably his pass key for opening locked doors and his employee ID.

Hmmm?

Wells has been in the past for ten years, with complete access to future tech, and all scientific discoveries for at least the next 10 years starting 20 years ago. Harrison could have made that tachyon collector himself at any point without resorting to all that subterfuge. He could have duplicated the tech after having access to it for a couple hours, god forbid 20 years, Wells could have duplicated the tech and had no need to steal it in front of the cops and a murderous supervillain.

"Sigh"

If that yellow suit we saw was an old Reverse Flash costume that's been an exhibit for the last 10 years since Barry kicked "Zoom's" ass, it would be a saturated sponge of Tachyon particles that until now Wells had no method to access and pour into the museum/time ships bone dry feul tank... That is of course if Wells is stuck/lost in time, and not actually exactly where he needs to be.

It's disturbing, but this makes some sense to me....

Zatanna's father was alive for a while...

A very long while, in fact. Zatara the Magician debuted in 1938 in Action Comics #1, the same issue that introduced Superman. Zatanna was introduced as his daughter 26 years later (the same era when DC introduced new versions of other Golden Age heroes like the Flash, Green Lantern, etc.).

Yup -- I think they included him speaking in the RF voice to make it clear that he was the guy. If it were just seeing him with the costume in his possession, then there'd be some doubt, but hearing him speak in the same voice was the clincher.

Best episode of the season yet. It was very exciting and emotional.

I almost cried when Barry finally professed his love for Iris. Things will be quite awkward between them from now on.

I didn't recognize who was following Caitlyn around until the guy lit up. I would like to see more of Firestorm, even if he's only a supporting cast.

Reverse Flash was interesting. Cisco pointed out to Detective West that there were two streaks, one red and one yellow, that Barry witnessed the night his mother was murdered. Who killed Nora Allen and why? I can't wait to find out!

The Reverse Flash (Wells) killed Nora; it's the identity of the person responsible for generating the red streak of lightning that needs to be revealed (although it's likely Barry).

I've been thinking that it's Barry ever since the pilot. And the tragedy is probably going to be that he has to not save his mother in order to save his younger self.

That was a hell of an episode though, with so much packed into it. Glad they had Barry tell Iris he loved her rather than dragging it out.

I liked the way Barry handled telling Iris the truth. It wasn't "I'm suddenly going to try to steal you from Eddie without caring how you feel about the matter," it was "I accept that I missed my chance but I owe it to you to be honest." It reminds me of a conversation I had back in college with a friend I had strong romantic feelings for but had to settle for being "in the friend zone" with, being honest with her about what I wished for but reassuring her that I valued our friendship too much to risk ruining it (and I did -- she was the best friend I'd ever had). And it's very much in character for Barry to be so selfless and understanding. (At the risk of flattering myself.)

Although it's a bit hypocritical to say "I couldn't lie to you anymore" and still hold on to his other big secret of being the Flash. A secret that he still has no compelling reason to keep from her beyond the writers' desire to keep her in the Lois Lane role.

I liked a lot of the mid season finale. The stuff with Reverse Flash was great, and I hope we see more of Firestorm (and maybe some of Firestorm's actual awesome power, and not just fire blasts/flying). I'm also hoping that this episode means that Eddie won't keep being the generic "cop hates vigilante" cliche now. The Barry/Iris relationship stuff was horrible, though, and realy brought the episode to a halt. Still, maybe now that its out there it won't be such a obsession for Barry going forward. Overall, I liked this episode, and its revelation about Reverse Flash. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

There's something that's been bothering me ever since the pilot. Kid Barry was driven outside of the house by the *yellow* blur...

From what Reverse Flash said, it sounds like he sees his confrontation with Barry as part of their respective "destiny." And he does seem to be Wells, who's adamant that Barry must achieve his full potential. Maybe he believes that killing Barry's mother was necessary to set him on the path to becoming the Flash. So he needed to get Barry out of the way so that he wouldn't see the details of what happened, maybe, but wanted to leave him alive and set on the right path.

So Wells is Reverse Flash and he's helping Barry become the Flash why  and who the 2nd guy back when Barry was a kid (a future version of himself?). For a second I thought Eddie being left untouched during the battle would lead to him being revealed as the future Reverse Flash.

Well given that this is from the creator of Arrow, I'm guessing they're waiting to reveal the truth to Iris in a huge, dramatic cliffhanger after a heroic, show-stopping rescue or something.

Simply telling her the truth in a quiet moment in their living room just wouldn't do at all. Lol

I don't know, maybe he wants to undo the damage that he did before? Or he simply wants to have a guinea pig to conduct his tests on so he can improve his own powers?

Or maybe it's simply because he realizes the only person who can save the world in the future is Barry, and everything he's doing now is just to save his own skin down the line.

That's my current working theory. Wells has said it already, "The Flash is my greatest invention." He knows that the world needs the Flash to save it from some future Crisis, so he keeps pushing the Flash to be all that he can be, so that he'll be ready when the time comes.

This begs the question, of course, of why the Reverse-Flash can't save the world on his own, but the answer might be that he's unwilling to sacrifice himself the way the Flash seems to be destined to do.
