And the Next Cancelled Show is...

I hope they end "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" soon. I mean I'm looking forward to the next Season, but there's not really much more to say with those characters I would think.

Didn't they recently renew it through like the 13th season or something silly like that?

I'm honestly a bit mystified as to how Scorpion made it to air trading on the "it's all a true story" angle when Walter O'Brien's narrative of his life (he's a 197-IQ genius hacker who got his "Scorpion" handle from busting out some sweet karate moves on the schoolyard bullies of his childhood, and now runs a multi-billion dollar super-team of geniuses who battle terrorism) is so obviously a fantasy.

I mean, it could be an entertaining fantasy, don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a fun show for what it is. But burdening it with a "true story" angle that's evidently bound to crumble seems like CBS shooting themselves in the foot.

It's one of the dumbest shows about smart people I've ever seen.

Thats all very true, but I actually like the show. I think "Based on a True Story" end at when he states his IQ. It's fun popcorn television and it succeeds at that. If cancelled tomorrow, I wouldn't really care in the least. Another just as dumb, fun show is around the corner. Hell this may last 4 or 5 years before it's killed.

You mean they don't send the Geek Squad on combat missions to retrieve stealth fighter software in Serbia?

Yeah, I'm not under any illusion that it's "based on a true story" by any more than the slimmest of margins, I just felt the need to point out that it's really, really dumb.

 Wow. Although funnily enough that fits perfectly with what I'd expect from the "true life" stories of a guy who tells people he's a billionaire anti-terrorist smarter-than-Einstein hacker karateka.

Intelligence wasn't that great but I enjoyed it more than Scorpion.

I don't agree and I liked Sawyer with a computer in his head. I always thought that both Intelligence and Almost Human could have been more successful if they swapped leads.

Karl Urban would be more believable as the Special Ops with a computer in his head

Josh Holloway would be more believable as the cop with the bad attitude, who doesn't like androids.

Just me

They just need to let Karl act with his own accent and he'll be fine almost anywhere.

To my ear, while he's pretending to be a yank, he just sounds plastic.

I don't know. Almost Human was kind of all over the place as a show (literally, half the episodes were shown out of order and it kept introducing more and more new subplots that never got resolved), but the best part of the show for me was the chemistry between Urban and Ealy, who made for believable (grudging) partners and friends. The dynamic between them was the best part of the show. It might have worked well with Holloway in the Urban role, but I wouldn't want to swap them out in hindsight after seeing how well Urban did.

Yeah, the chemistry between the two leads was really the only thing keeping the Almost Human afloat. It's a shame really, if they had just picked a single storyline to follow, then they might have had a better chance of keeping viewers. As it was, the show was rather jumbled.

The final 7 episodes of Manhattan Love Story dropped on line last night while I was sleeping.

Half way through episode 10 right now, but there's nothing to write home about.

Despite being my favourite show of the season so far I would be astonished to see it get a 5th season :( and I think me n CBS are done with each other for drama's (fed up with the whole network system to be fair)...

Only hope is for WB to do what they did for Chuck & Fringe and hammer out a very cheap deal for CBS to air a short 5th season assuming they even want to (90 episodes by end of season 4).

Another recent precedent as a final 13-episode season being used as midseason "filler", is like what season 7 of The Mentalist is presently being used for.

(Both The Mentalist and Person of Interest are owned by Warner).

That may be because of the new top brass at TNT. They're trying to re-brand the network to be more edgy and female-friendly, which is part of the reason why so many of their shows -- Dallas, Franklin & Bash, Perception, et al -- have been canceled. It's what's called "regime change" out here.

If ratings continue to decline or remain at low levels, the only way I can see season 5 being made is if Warner bends over backwards significantly for it, due to the Netflix deal they made for it awhile ago.

Largely a season 5 being used to "complete" a show with a satisfactory ending.

Here's an article which asserts Netflix is willing to pay more for shows which are "complete", for their binge watching business model. (ie. Binge watchers are less interested in shows which end on cliffhangers and/or too much unresolved stuff).

^ If Netflix can save my shows then thats a new reason to love it even more than I already do :techman:

I'm reminded of a former co-worker. He joined our team fresh from HR, without a clue about what he'd be doing. Yet everything he did was related to his former jobs.

You see, at the time, he was 28 years old. He was retired from the military. He had been a Navy Seal, a special ops Marine, had spent time in the Army, and had trained with astonauts for a secret mission. He lived in Omaha, but flew to Las Vegas every weekend using his private jet, and one week when his jet wasn't working, he invented a jet pack that would let him fly without the plane, and would get him there just as fast.

He was married to a supermodel wife in a multi-million dollar mansion (which begs the question, why was he working there?) and every Thursday, he had to leave for a lunch meeting with the President's advisors, because the President's staff could not do their jobs without him.

He consulted with Congressmen, and Warren Buffet called him up for advice on which company to buy.

Every single one of these stories (and the above is just the tip of that iceberg) was told with a straight face.
