Those are a great set of photos! Kids have more fun doing these kinds of things than we sometimes think they do. There's a lot of enjoyment to be had in picking a tree during the Holidays.

We had a great time but man was it cold, about 21 degrees. Afterwards we went and got Hot Chocolate for the kids and we adults had Hot Cider.

Well played, Tom. And what a beautiful tree. I wish I could fit a live (well, killed) tree in my house, but it would take up too much space, so I'm stuck with my skinny model artificial one.

All that snow broke my mind. We do get snow here, but... yeah. The idea of frolicking around in the snow doing stuff, instead of just going from indoor to indoor for the shortest time possible is just alien to me.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that I lived with that kind of snow, and then some, for years. I spent most of my early years in Montreal, known for its wicked winters. When I would tell my kids that when I was their age I walked to school for a mile uphill in a snowstorm I was telling the truth. I can't handle those kinds of winters any more; I'm far too conditioned to the moderate if wet winters where I live now. I'm also very paranoid about black ice now after the accident.

I've heard stories about the cake being untruthful. It's a risk I'll take.

There's only one way to find out. And that involves ... consuming it. As much as you want. And reporting on your findings.

It's for science, man! Do it ... for science!

...because you can't have your cake and Edith too.

Yeah, we all had a great time. The place actually has snow slides set up and a few jungle gym also. So the kids got to do that while I got the tree bailed and put onto the car. They didn't want to leave, well Kira did but that was because she kept getting snow in her mittens.

With moving from Long Island to up here in Syracuse we knew what we were getting into. Yeah it's rough sometimes but we're really happy here. Way better place to raise a family, I would never want to live in a place like Long Island again.

Before moving up here we spent a Christmas in an apartment, so. We had one of those slim artificial tree. It hurt so bad to not have a real one, but better to have the skinny one then none at all. The tree is beautiful, we haven't finished decorating it yet. I'll post a pic when we're done.

We've had close to a foot of snow already and we didn't get any from the storm that hammered Buffalo NY with over five feet of snow. So looking to be a good year of snow for us.

I grew up in Upstate NY (Albany). Went to college in Upstate NY (Utica/Geneseo) - which meant many trips through the Syracuse area. And now live on Long Island (well, Queens). The weather in Upstate is much harsher. But there are good people there, and there's plenty of space. It's certainly a good place to raise a family. Especially if you enjoy (and can manage) the snow.
