Mockingbird comes into play in another few episodes of AoS as well. Not to mention it's highly possible for the Netflix shows to also have an additional hero per show perhaps.
Misty Knight in either IF or LC is logical.
DD could have an array of possibilities for a one off.

All this said I feel it's too soon for Civil War...as we know it.
That's why I think Feige is likely using Civil War the same way he's using Age of Ultron, mostly "in name only" and shaped for the needs of the MCU as it is. Not an adaption of the story we know.

I too would like a Whedon trilogy. The Russos did a bang up job but I'd still like a Whedon Avengers trilogy!

 

And possibly Blizzard, Graviton, and Absorbing Man, depending on how they end up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

 

And there is all of the unknown (to us) people on SHIELD's gifted index. Coulson said it was a small list, but on a planet with 7 billion people on it, 5,000 names would still be a small list.

 

Perhaps Stark's change of heart could be directly tied to a "No More Mutants" type scenario at the end of AofU or something similar? I also think that Stark's appearance in Cap3 may be in a limited capacity and used primarily to set up the conflict between the two characters we will see later on. IM4 (if it happens) could then deal with Stark promoting the powers registration act and perhaps convincing Spider-Man to join him.

What is interesting about this in terms of movies is that IM has potential to be set up as the bad guy (much as he was in Civil War) but without much possibility for RDJ to actually have a redemption following the events of the conflict. I wonder if the MCU could possibly switch the roles of Cap and IM and have IM suffer the comic book fate of Captain America at the end of the movie?

Did that Index get dumped onto the Web by Fury and Romanova along with everything else Fury had?

(Given how bad things had already gotten in TWS, Fury probably considered it his way of warning everyone alive and on the Index who wasn't already KIA by HYDRA to run for whatever cover they could find.)

 

And yet another contender for Doctor Strange emerges: Ewan McGregor.

Just pick someone already!

 

Now that's a solid choice right there, although I would be fine with Ethan Hawke, too.

 

Ryan Gosling now looks to be in the frame.

I don't have an issue with him as an actor, but I really don't see him as Doctor Strange...

 

Personally, out of the names they named already, Ethan Hawke sounds like the best pick. Ewan McGregor is good and all, but Hawke fits with the already established MCU IMO.

 

It would be interesting if IM does appear in Cap 3 and he does have a major role in the film. Sadly i havent kept up with comics since the beginning of high school and only vaguely know about civil war. Sounds good and the MCU can play it off very good. I gots faith. The ended TWS with a need to want more.

Havent seen guardians yet but planning on picking up the blu ray whenever it comes out. Marvel films so far have been very good and entertaining. They just doing a good job with most of their films.

ImO im more for an Inferno crossover. I could see the XMen films being the main focus and then just having small repercussions in all the marvel titles would be cool.

As for doctor strange yeah i can see Ethan hawke or ewan McGregor doing the role. 'Nuff said.

 

Civil War in a nutshell:

The New Warriors accidentally blow up a city of civilians and get themselves killed sparking a government crackdown on superheroes. A bill is passed forcing superheroes to unmask and register with the government. Iron Man and Mr Fantastic realize that in order to control the government taking over the superheroes they have to fight FOR the bill. Captain America leads the freedom and privacy rights resistance. Spider-Man is initially pro-reg and actually unmasks on live television revealing his secret identity, thus destroying his life and loved ones and he switches sides. After a big war with lots of casualties, Cap surrenders because he realizes he's just causing more mayhem and destruction, and on his way to the trial he gets assassinated. (of course, this being comics, he didn't stay dead for long!)

It's my fervent-but-naive hope that they're tossing out all these names as diversions while secretly hiring Oded Fehr.

Not gonna happen, I know, but I can dream.

(Also, I have to admit I'd watch the hell out of Keanu as Strange.)

 

Case in point people in the X-men films knowing about super powered people in 1963, as opposed to the Marvel films where they didn't until 2012.

 

Cap was superheroing in the 1940s.

 

I can't help but wonder if Marvel's MO is good or bad. They are asking their leading actors and some of the supporting actors to sign multi-movie deals and they keep a very tight leash on everything else.

That might not be a problem for upcoming movie stars like Chris Pratt or Chris Evans who already made their name known in Hollywood but didn't break big yet. Marvel movies are currently hot so this gave them big exposure as leading men and a big boost in their careers for the comparatively small commitment to be locked in for 2-3 movies.

This could be much harder to swallow with established movie stars who already have a very good career going like Joaquin Phoenix who is able to pick roles he wants to play and doesn't need to start/establish a career or even make a good paycheck so there have to be other incentives and apparently Marvel is unable/unwilling to give him that.

I know that Marvel is playing the long game with their MCU franchise and thus needs multi-movie deals for some cornerstone characters like Captain America or Iron Man but i fear the day where they overstep and choose the wrong actor just for the mentioned reasons. Marvel is either very skilled or just very lucky (probably both) to pick the right actor for their roles but every streak has to end sometime and i believe Marvel is courting desaster with this production method.
