Shatner in Next Movie - Treklit Implications ?

Ack, it's Age of Ultron where she was pregnant? I have been misinformed by a co-worker. Must remember to check stuff on Google first... *slinks away*

Well in Shatner's Kirk novels Kirk is alive in the 24th Century which would explain how we could see him and Spock Prime together. i know they wouldn't use that though but maybe they just won't explain it and we are left to fill in the blanks ala X-Men Days of Future Past.

For what it is worth, I have had a change of heart, and I hope 3 does not have any of the old cast. It has been mentioned up-thread that these new movies should "move forward", "reinvent", "be fresh", and I agree. Now, having said that, what might be cool is to have some sort of montage-clip-retrospective before or after the main feature, as it is also the 50th Anniversary of the whole shebang. Maybe plot-related, maybe as a stand-alone, or "Extra." It is too soon to be too sure about much of anything, but I hope we will all be writing good stuff about the movie and the franchise as it is now, as a result of its latest offering.

Actually the latest rumor I've heard is that if Shatner and Nimoy were in the movie, they wouldn't be playing Kirk and Spock Prime, but would be playing the future versions of the Abramsverse Kirk and Spock, interacting with their younger selves through more time travel.

Which is another reason for me to hope this rumor isn't true, or that the story idea doesn't pan out, because there's been way too much time travel in Trek movies already.

I want to point out there was a rumor about casting a young Deanna Troi, maybe she'll be with future Kirk and Spock?
I'm thinking they may move forward with a Next Gen reboot as a sequel to the NuTrek movies since there's some concern about the cast doing a fourth movie. Older Kirk and Spock could appear in Next Gen movies perhaps, although Kirk would need to be aged more, as McCoy was in Next Gen tv series.

Now, I can believe Bad Robot might have some plans of doing a TNG of their own, mainly because it seems odd in the comics we're seeing a 24th century of the Abramsverse which features the DS9 characters. You'd think TNG would be the more logical choice, it was the more popular show and IDW already had a license to cover it. And you'd think Q would be more interested in meeting an Abramsverse Picard than Sisko. But if Bad Robot has plans for TNG, they'd of course make it a "no go" for IDW, requiring them to use another Trek series, and DS9 is the next popular one after TNG.

I'm kind of hoping they'll stop after the third film. I certainly don't want them carrying on into TNG and beyond.

If they must continue the JJverse, how about a TV spinoff set in the same era as the curent movies ?

That's the thing about medical science. You never know what you'll run into. The egg didn't release with the others, no one realized the egg was left inside, it developed inside the Gorn, and a C section had to be done as the egg was beginning to hatch. All concerned were just lucky enough to have McCoy there when it was hatching and the C section had to be done.

As the Boss might sing, it was a...GORRRRN IN THE UFP!

Tie-in novels are read by approx. 1-2% of a movie's fanbase. What blanks can 98% of people who saw "Generations" fill in?

It's McCoy; it could easily be a shorthand reference to having to assist with a particularly complex and, let's say nasty Gorn birth...

It got handled in the tie-in game.

What happened exactly there?

The unusual/different species of Gorn featured in the game are invaders from another universe.

The same blanks I have to fill in when JJ Trek doesn't make any sense.

As I said, I know they wouldn't do that. But it doesn't need to be explained outright either how it happened.

I've never understood the movies not making sense without the comics. I never had a problem understanding them. The comics are unnecessary supplemental backstory at most.
