The return of a TV landmark

Excellent timing. (The show ended in 1991, if you didn't know.)

I'm hopeful, but cautious. The Laura Palmer murder storyline was fantastic, but once that was resolved and they moved onto other story arcs the show became very dull very quickly. If this reunion is a limited run with a defined end point, it could be something special, but if they try to turn it into a continuing series like the original then they'll probably fall into the same trap as before.

David Lynch didn't want to resolve the murder storyline so early, it was the network that made him. He wasn't as much involved in the later part of the series as he was in the beginning. In this case he'll be writing and directing all the episodes, and since it's Showtime he'll probably do it with no network interference.
