Zoe Saldana is *fine*, but please-

I like squishy round women with a great sense of humor and many hobbies, some of which overlap or are similar to mine. I managed to find one hiding at the supermarket. :)

Frankly I don't see all the fuss over Saldana, she's WAY too skinny and *shudder* too tall.

She seems tall to me sometimes, but not when she's standing near Quinto or Pine. I think her long legs do give her the appearance of being taller than she is.

I don't think she looks skinnier than she should. She's slender, definitely, but it looks to me like she has a naturally small frame. I think she's lovely now and would continue to be lovely whether she put on a few pounds or not. :)

I think Ms Saldana is pretty much obligated to be taller, thinner and prettier than most of us. She'd be sadly underemployable in her industry if she looked like most of the rest of us! Just like the Quinto/Pine/Urban appreciation threads would be far thinner if they weren't also taller, more fit and handsomer than most of the rest of us!

that said, I wanted to take the whole cast home and feed them. because I'm an old mom and that's what moms do when they like you. or are horrified at how thin you've become! "Eat! Eat" You're skin and bones! How will you ever give me grandbabies if you're so thin? Eat! Eat!"

^ you I'll let by with just a cuppa as long as you come to visit yer old nana!

5'7" is tall? Jeez. I'm 5' 8 1/2" - and I have a sister and a niece who are taller than I am. And a nephew who's 6'7".

^ I wouldn't call it tall, but 5'7" is above average, certainly, and many popular actresses are actually pretty tiny. One exception featuring prominently in the article is Sigourney Weaver, who's 5'11" -- she talks about that a bit.

Funnily enough - Zoe Saldana is at Comic-Con and was on a panel about women in science-fiction.

I'd recommend the Guardian article linked in that, too.

Most women over here are larger then 5'7. Hmm, perhaps American women do have something going for them.

"It's about how long I have to stand fighting a room full of men about why I should do a fight scene in trousers, where I'm required to run across a floor and leap on to a moving elevator," she said. "They're confused because they're convinced I should be just as good at doing that in a leather miniskirt and Gucci boots."

Well, why not? My girlfriend can run fast and leap on and off objects in a leather miniskirt and stiletto Gucci boots. I've seen her do it. What's so hard about that? (And before you ask: no, I'm not going to wear stiletto boots -- I'm convinced somehow female anatomy makes it easier to wear them :p)

According to statistics about average heights around the world, people from Netherlands are the tallest in the world, after the people from Dinaric Alps. Netherlands is/was officially the country with the tallest people in the world (although that statistics is a few years old, I bet that Montenegro would be in #1 spot since it officially became an independent country).
