Ziyal's Surgery Update

^Glad you enjoy the kitty pictures, Tiberius. I kind of like how this spontaneously turned into a kitty thread (in addition to its original intent). Since the main point of the kitties is to cheer me up as I plod through my interminable recovery from surgery, don't they belong right here?

Yes they do, but we're hoping that you won't be a sick little kitty for long, and we need a place to continue after you are all better!

So today was my last day of physical therapy with the home health agency. I have to admit I'm going to miss it. But their goal is strictly to ensure that the patient can go places outside the home safely. She's confident that my leg strength and balance are adequate to do what I need to... I'm walking with a cane now instead of a walker (still use a wheelchair for longer distances), and I can climb stairs. Did the whole flight to the second floor here today, rested for a few minutes and came back down. That was a first! Once I'm no longer on the wound vac, I'll try to get a referral for outpatient PT.

I wish the bladder and bowels were doing as well!

So were your kitties happy to see you the other day?

One was ecstatic. The other was her usual skittish self.

Ah, now I understand. I won't have recovered enough to go home until sometime in August. Maybe I'll start a new thread at that time. Or maybe when this hits 500 posts, which will be quite soon.

^Not an injury. A rare bone cancer called a sacral chordoma. I guess August is pretty soon -- thank you for reminding me! -- but it doesn't feel that way. The surgery was all the way back on March 15.

Wow, that's a long time. And I'm glad that you are recovering! And yeah, from March 15, it has been a long road, getting from there to here. It's been a long time, but your time is finally near...

You've just been Belaired....

^They both were. Ironically, the more laid-back one has the more dramatic history: he was thrown out of a moving car on a highway near my home.

That's the story that I was thinking of. I figured he would be the skittish one. Interesting.

^Part of what attracted me to him was how easy-going he was despite all the crap he'd been through. I think I need to use him as a role model!

:( I hate stories like that. Glad you gave him a good home.

I'm getting ready to adopt a new kitty very soon- I miss my Eddie!

What a cutie, Jaytrek! One of the best kitty pics in the thread.

DN, I suspect it will be later in August rather than earlier. Either way, I'm getting there!

It's only a problem if it's hurting you. And that's too cute to hurt. ;)

(I especially like the heat mirage under the cat on that one!!!)

I get a kick about the "stowing landing gear" bit. :)

How about a little more action from a magic kitteh?

And never trust your couch!

^ I wouldn't dream of trusting a couch!

Went to mass today for the first time since the surgery. Used the wheelchair, but for communion I impulsively grabbed my FFH's arm and walked up the aisle. Woohoo! It felt so good.

YAY! Good for you, woman. You'll be strolling along on your own in no time. ;)
