Zachary Quinto as Spock...

....wow....

That would ROCK! Perfect looks, very good acting ability, some name recognition due to Heroes, but would also go back to a TV series when & if they put Trek back where it belongs, on TV: how could he be any more perfect?

I just hope that this...eek...doesn't impact the character he plays on Heroes. Man, what a choice. Sylar or Spock. But fortunately, Sylar is the kind of character who could vanish from the plotline for months on end, and it would only enhance his mystique.

Hope this is true.

I believe Temis called this some time ago. As did I.

Not long till Comic Con. Can anybody else feel the pace quickening? Internet meltdown (as foretold by Dennis) is coming...

He would be perfect. And I gotta say: If he is really in negotiations, I'm hopeful he'll get the part, because once you see him in whatever he's doing, you realize immediately how great he could be in the part.

I'll be honest, I probably won't give too much thought to Comic-Con until after I've finished reading the last Harry Potter novel. ;)

Interesting, and potentially very good, choice. I'm not a fan of Heroes, but I've seen him on it, and he's one of the few things I generally liked about it. I can definitely see him as Spock.

I wouldn't have a problem with him... not a "dead ringer" for Nimoy but similar enough for a good actor to pull it off. The photoshopped makeup job isn't very good, though... :D

Here's my favorite line from PTM's post there...
TrekMovie.com has been hearing that the producers are leaning away from ‘big stars’ for the staring roles of Kirk and Spock, and if so then Quinto would be an excellent choice.
I've believed all along that casting a "big name" would be a horrible mistake (too much "audience baggage" to really sell the recasting). But I've never heard anything "officially reported" that confirmed this. So I'm interested in the source(s) of this tidbit... if such can be provided naturally!

Considering that the characters of Kirk and Spock will (for most of the movie) be somewhere between 25 and 30 years old, I'd say that this is just fine.

Nobody has ever said, or even implied, that this is "teen trek." Kirk's time at the Academy as an instructor was (as I keep reminding people) when he was a LIEUTENANT, and that would have made him about 26 or 27 years old.

Add me to the chorus of people who like this choice.

uestion -- anyone know how the scheduling looks for both projects -- how doable does it sound? Sylar is supposed to be a major character this season...but it's 2 or 3 arcs, so if it's the first one, he should be just fine.
