Your top 5 movies for 2010...

This will probably change when I see movies like Black Swan, 127 Hours and True Grit, but...

1. Inception
2. The Social Network
3. The Ghost Writer
4. The American
5. Let Me In

Toy Story 3, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Kick-Ass, The Town, Red, The Crazies and The Greatest were also very good this year.

Off the top of my head, I'd say the best five movies of the year -

Inception
Buried
The Social Network
True Grit
The Town

Other good ones -

Iron Man 2
Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Machete
How to Train Your Dragon
Toy Story 3

In no particular order, a few films I enjoyed this year:
Inception
Kick Ass
Scott Pilgrim vs the World

I still need to see Black Swan, 127 Hours, True Grit, The King's Speech, The Tempest, Tron Legacy, and The Fighter but here are my top five as it stands now:

1. Inception
2. The Social Network
3. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World
4. Kick-Ass
5. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Changed after seeing Buried and Black Swan...

1. Buried
2. Inception
3. The Social Network
4. Black Swan
5. The Ghost Writer

I still need to see True Grit and 127 Hours, both of which might make my Top Five, so we'll see.

How do ya not see five movies all year? I got to five movies in one week! And four of 'em were free!!!

I held off posting in this thread until I saw two more films this week...

1. Inception
2. Toy Story 3
3. Black Swan
4. Tron: Legacy
5. The Social Network

It should be noted the the top three are all very close to each because they were all incredible films.

1. Toy Story 3
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1
3. The Social Network
4. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
5. Tangled / True Grit (tie)

Haven't seen yet: 127 Hours, Black Swan, The King's Speech

I still haven't seen TRUE GRIT, as well as countless others. Won't be able to answer this question for at least six months, when everything I've missed has finally made it to home video.

This will probably change again after next week (where I'm hoping to see The King's Speech, and True Grit, ) but my top five list reads thus:

1. Black Swan
2. Inception
3. Tron:Legacy
4. The Social Network
5. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

Well according to the list I've had running all year...

1 Kick Ass
2 Four Lions
3 Toy Story 3
4 Predators
5 Inception

I need to give it some more though though likely, and I've still only seen each of them once so with repeated viewings my opinions might change. I suspect I'd like Predators less with a second viewing, but might like Inception more. I dunno, Inception I liked, I just didn't love. There was just too much story jammed in there. If Nolan had left it as a very intelligent heist film I think it would have been brilliant, and likely best film of the year, but the sub plot about his wife knocked it down a notch, as did an ending that made me want to throw things at the screen. I was really hoping he'd be above something so obvious.

I doubt many have seen it, but people really should try to get hold of Four Lions, I went in to see it with some trepidation but its absolutely bloody hilarious, but also thought provoking and quite sad by turns. You wouldn't think a film about suicide bombers can be funny...you'd be wrong :D

Aw hell might as well post the whole list...

6 Iron Man 2
7 Tron Legacy
8 Daybreakers
9 The Expendables
10 The A-Team
11 Brroklyn's Finest
12 Shutter Island
13 Centurian
14 Devil
15 Made in Dagenham
16 Skyline
17 Knight and Day
18 It's a Wonderful Afterlife
19 The Crazies
20 The Book of Eli
21 Monsters
22 Resident Evil:Afterlife
23 Prince of Persia
24 Clash of the Titans
25 The Losers
26 Hot Tub Time Machine
27 Green Zone

I think some films do need to shift around somewhat, in hindesight Iron Man 2 probably needs to be lower down, and the Crazies higher.

And yes, Green Zone is my worst film of the year, because it commits (for me) the cardinal sin, it's dull!

I'm not sure I saw any movie in a theater this year (the nearest multiplex is at least forty-five minutes away), but I really enjoyed Kick-Ass and Winter's Bone on DVD . . . .

Going to see the Kings Speech at some stage this week. Good chance I may have to amend my top 5...

Consider me jealous. The King's Speech, 127 Hours, and The Company Men are all recent releases that I'd love to see but am doubtful will be coming to my area anytime soon, if indeed at all. Howl is supposed to be opening at a local "arthouse"-type theater in mid-January, and I'm expecting Blue Valentine to open around the same time. I also want to see Biutiful but I'm doubting that even that theater will show it.
