This has already been discussed, but what are your personal opinions on the fan made "Star Trek: New Voyages?"
But, they have Paramount's permission and are not making any profit from it?Charles Trip Tucker III said:
It is a violation of copyright law, so I haven't downloaded any of the episodes.
I agree. I cannot in all honesty find a season's worth of good episodes from the Modern Trek episodes produced in the last 15 years. Trek should have been a well-oiled machine by then, but it languished all that time in mediocrity. At least with "New Voyages" they are actually taking risks. Risks that have not been taken for a very long time.aussie said:
Absolutely love New Voyages - the recent Chekov-centred one penned by D.C Fontana would sit nicely mid-Season 2 of TOS.
Outstanding stuff, and it makes me cry that in the past 15 years the professional paramount productions were rarely this good.

I like New Voyages, it's so bad that it's good, James Cawley does a very amusing impersonation of Shatner. In Harms Way was their best episode imo the last one with Walter Koenig in it was pretty average, I prefer the all round bad acting of the first few episodes.
I've longed believed this and I don't even watch NV.Good Will Riker said:

First off, I wasn't aware they had Paramount's permission. Second, even if they don't make a profit, Paramount can still loose money. After all, why go see the new prequel movie when you can download the new episode of New Voyages?![]()

And I'm impressed that they get such cool guest stars. I just wish the GOOD shows (Exeter and Hidden Frontier) could get them.
