(Your) most depressing episode

Omega-Trekker

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
For me it was "Blink of an Eye". What if they never left their planet and made the transition to regular space-time? That would mean their entire civilization had probably died out and long turned to dust within a short time of Voyagers departure. No one in the DQ would ever know they existed.

For me, it would be "Repentance". The ending was awfully sad, when we learned that the family of the victim still called for Iko's execution despite the new medical evidence. And Janeway did nothing to prevent him from being sent back to his homeland, where she knew he would be executed.

I found Seven of Nine's speech so moving and compelling, as it shed a light on Janeway's contradictions and hypocrisy: Iko took one life and was sentenced to death, Seven assimilated thousands of lives as a Borg yet she did not have to face any consequences for what she did.

The second episode of season 4.
For me, Voyager ended there and then. :wah:
So you had a crush on Kes?

But from their perspective it's still thousands upon thousands of years, it's just a short time from the perspective of the outside universe. So it's not that sad, imho.

For VOYAGER, I'd say "COURSE: OBLIVION".

They were duplicates, but they clearly did good out there and was a positive force in the Delta Quadrant. And their reward? Consigned to nothingness. Not even their log entries could be saved. They end up forgotten... that's a dark fate.

Definitely one of the darkest endings of the franchise, and it's one of the reasons why it's such a great episode.

3x22 Real Life.. I can't watch how Belle is suffering, I have to skip this part of the episode every time I do a rerun :weep:
I must admit that it is one of the few episodes in seasons 1,2 and 3 I often skip.
Just too much syrupy soap opera for me.

Course Oblivion. Just before real Voyager shows up, the T-1000 copies and their memories and experiences are lost.

Course Oblivion is also one of the most infuriating VOY episodes; "Look people! Things are happening! We're finally shaking up the status quo! We're preparing to enter a new, exciting region of space! There's character development!
...J/K it was just clones made out of grey goo...now let's return to the eternal, amnemic status quo hell that is Voyager"

Great days.

I love that photo, Jennifer Lien looks like she just walked off the set of "Friends"
I also think, instead of giving her that hideous wig that made her look like a toddler for most of her stay on Voyager, they should have styled her hair around the ears in ringlets like that.
It would not only given her a sort of "space elf" vibe, and it would have given her a very unique look as well, instead of just making her look like a blonde Vulcan.

"Real Life" seems more about self inflicting harm than learning about family life. Plus, the Doc's family never returns.

In someone like me, the end of "Repentance" is more prone to cause outrage than sorrow.

For me, it's got to be Course: Oblivion. That episode is frickin' brutal.

She would probably have looked great in that too.

But personally I prefer the pixie hairstylet. She looked fantastic in that and it was a trademark for Kes, something that made her unique.

Sometimes I think that The Doctor is too touchy and rather destructive when it comes to his holodeck fantasies.

He stopped calling himself Schweitzer and was depressed after Freya was killed in that holodeck adventure. Why didn't he just start over the adventure where he could save the life of her or had Tom or Harry create a holodeck program in which he could have lived with Freya during his off-hours?

And why did he scrap the whole project in "real Life" just because his "daughter" died? he could have re-wrote the whole thing and made her stay alive.

Just like a painter who destroys all his paintings because one painting turns out bad or a rock band who destroys all tapes with songs for an upcoming album because of some trouble with one of the songs.

Utterly destructive, dear Mr. Doctor!

Maybe The Doctor needs a Doctor?

I respect that that's your opinion and taste. But again, I don't think it made her look "unique", it just made her look like a blonde Vulcan, in my opinion.
