A Nikon Coolpix L19.

It works!:

I've been very bad lately. I found a lovely dress at a little Tibetan shop in the East Village, I bought a pair of fantastic pink jeans, I got some great strappy sandals in muted rainbow colors, a classic Chinese shirt in Chinatown, and I bought my dad an iPod for a late Father's Day gift.

Oh, and I'm at the airport and bought a bag of trail mix for the flight. Jetblue has free wifi at it's JFK terminal -- sweet!

This morning I bought an iPhone and a latte. Actually, as the guy was setting up my iPhone he saw me hungrily eyeing his coffee and was like "Do you like coffee? Here's a $1 off coupon - go get one while this takes a few minutes!"

All right--the rest of my furniture arrived today.

For the living room:

Now I just have to pay for it all.

Have you succumbed to Pottery Barn? :D

Dude, if it could, your av would be nodding and grinning at the prospect of eating your soul.

(nice stuff though, congrats!)

I bought grits (I've caught a taste for the stuff ever since I took that road trip to KC...ate at the Denny's right near Kauffman Stadium) and an iTunes card.

I didn't even know what that was--I had to look it up.

We don't have one here--but we do have some equivalent stores, and I bought some nice decorative cushions for the couch at one of them, on the weekend.

So--yes.

You grade sixteen tests, and what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
Lord Satan, don't you call me, 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the furniture store...

It is pretty nice. I'm pretty sure that this is the first time I've ever owned new furniture in my life.

Sweet. I like that night table; I desperately need a pair for my bedroom.

It's very nice. The shelves are spacious, and it wasn't too expensive, either.

What I can't get over is how huge the bed is. Ever since I started grad school, I've essentially slept on mattresses on the floor--with a box spring, if I was lucky.

Now, this bed is close to a metre high. I almost have to climb up into it. I feel like the princess in "The Princess and the Pea".

I personally find it harder to co-ordinate around darker furniture, so tend to pick lighter coloured woods. I think it comes from growing up in a house with lots of mahogany around and I think that when I got my own place, I subconsciously reacted by going in completely the opposite direction with light pine and other similar colours.

It's supposed to get really hot here this weekend (95F/35C) so I stocked up on, you guessed it, beer! I intend to stay inside with the air conditioning as much as possible over the holiday weekend.

Beautiful furniture, Camelopard!

Thank you. I find comments like this quite reassuring. Having never bought new furniture before, I had no idea if my taste was any good or not. ;)

Are you kidding? I am practically drooling over the living room tables. They are fantastic... and I could come up with about thirty different rooms to go with them. :bolian:

As for my purchases today... I stocked up on munchy foods for the weekend. I also bought a bottle of wine that I tried at a tasting last week and loved. Has anyone had Sante Pinot Noir?

Every single piece is lovely. Great colour, and looks of excellent quality. I'll bet your apartment looks fabulous! Congratulations on finally settling in.

I bought a genealogy book to prepare me for my upcoming visit to a genealogy library.

Plus two pairs of shorts, since it's summer and HOT.
