I purchased another pair of Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires for the front wheels of my car; total cost was about $125 each mounted and balanced. My car does seem to handle better...though it may just be a placebo effect from dropping nearly $500 on rubber.

New tyres again? Didn't you just change them fairly recently?

I bought a black Coach purse. They had a 60% off sale today.

Pics!

Designer brands are going to be at firesale prices soon. I was at a big designer outlet mall yesterday and the reductions were staggering... and still people weren't buying vast amounts. You could almost smell the desperation on the salespeople.

I did pick up some cool gear though. Most of it is for reselling, but enough fits me that I'll keep them if they don't resell for a decent profit. In particular a great Aquascutum double-breasted trenchcoat, a tan suede Polo safari jacket and a Polo olive moleskin hacking jacket, replete with geeky suede elbow patches.

Did you hear Saks had to have a 70% off sale last week? That's just terrifying for the wider retail business.

I took my daughter shopping yesterday as she needed boots, mittens, and a winter hat. I also needed some business casual-y slip-on shoes (I need slip-ons for my church gig, as play the pedals in stocking feet).

She got her stuff (all pink, and she's been wearing them around the house with a t-shirt and shorts on too), and I also got a pair of Docker's brown slip-ons, a new belt, new gloves, and the following monstrosity:

Gene Hunt shoes! I was so pissed that Kohl's didn't have the slip-ons I actually wanted that I bought these gaudy things to make up for it. The best part is, they're actually comfortable!

My wife hates them, my students probably will, and I'll bet that Holdy will be sending me a scathing PM, but my daughter likes 'em and so do I. :phbbt:

I had to take a watch in for repair at Neiman Marcus and they tried to sell me another watch. No money down until June and triple bonus points. It's not as if they were knocking 50% off their watches but for Neiman Marcus it was enough desperation to be kind of scary. However, if I'm going to put down that kind of money for a watch it's not going to be for the first one I see. So I turned down the watch and got groceries instead.

I heard a rumor that Saks is closing in my area.

Yep, that's the word on the street - Saks is going bust. I don't know if it's true or just other retailers pissed that Saks has moved the discount schedule so far up.

Yep. I head about the triple bonus point thing; I heard it's on everything. For Needless Markup, that's truly desperate.

No PM. A public dressing down instead. :p

New tyres again? Didn't you just change them fairly recently?

I only did a pair last time on the rear wheels; Friday was getting the front tires done, leaving me four pristine pieces of rubber on my car. They came in quite handy too, as I was driving last night in the snow in conditions that would have previously been impossible with the old tires.

Of course, that meant that I had to do chauffeur duty after a party, which likely cost me the chance of getting naughty with one of the other party-goers. Oh well, responsibilities...

Now you've impressed her with the size of your responsibility, ask to show her the weightiness of your dependabilty.

Your clearly in some pseudoephedrine-induced druggie haze, aren't you? ;)

We'll find out end of this week...

A Whitman's Sampler box. Savin' it for Christmas. I figure when I spend the holiday by myself (ugh, first solo Christmas in my life) I'm going to need some chocolate to keep from committing suicide. :p

I just picked up the Limited Edition version of Prince of Persia. I was originally just going to wait and get it later, until it was announced that the only way that you could get it was through preordering it at Gamestop. I popped down my $10 when they announced that only 40% of the preorder Limited Editions remained.

After yet another week of horrid illness I managed to make it out of the house and buy some PJ's... and to help cheer myself up, The Princess Bride - Special Edition

Whenever I am down I read my well thumbed copy of the book, yet today I couldn't really read, so I finally treated myself to one of my favourite childhood films. As lovely, funny sweet as I remember.
