I went wine-tasting and somehow came back with 3 new bottles; what a bizarre turn of events... :D

2004 Alain Brumont Madiran Brumaire - already have a bottle of this fab dessert wine from an unusual grape in the cellar, but now I won't have any regrets when I open it!
2006 Domaine Laroche Chablis St Martin - decent Chablis, good price.
2005 Cave Vincole de Hunawihr Gewurztraminer Reserve - lovely Alsace with a great nose.

Today I went to Borough Market near London Bridge for Christmas food shopping:

2 x small Venison Haunches for Christmas day (with which I am having a bottle of 1997 Barolo RRP £75)

4 x small 25-day aged lamb chops (to go with a bottle of 2004 Dolcetto from Piedmonte RRP £15)

2 x Sea Bream and 4 x Tiger Prawns (to go with a bottle of Winkel Sauvignon Blanc from Austria RRP £12)

1 x chicken breast parcel (for two servings) stuffed with wild boar and wild garlic, coated in chili and coriander (to go with a bottle of Austrian Gruner Veltliner RRP £15)

Rule number one when trying to match food and wine... buy the WINE first ;)

Hugo - going back next week to buy some cheeses to go with his 1997 Suduiraut Sauternes (RRP £30), and some chocolates to go with his 1997 Chapoutier Banyuls (red dessert wine from the Rhone RRP £20) :D

Gosh  I'm going to Hugo's house right now! Who's coming with me? :D

I bought a futon that pulls out to a full-size bed so I can turn my office into a guest bedroom.

Velho Barreiro - my all time favourite cachaca.

Fresh strawberries.
Fresh lime
Brown sugar.

The only ingredients required for an original perfect Brazilian strawberry caipirinha. I shouldn't buy whole bottles of this, since I find it difficult to resist, but what the heck, eh...

So this is really nerdy, but I recently bought this spice rack for my sis and her husband as a housewarming present.

It's not very practical if you do a lot of cooking, but they don't really and since it can be hung on the wall it seems like a nice piece of kitchen art. Their place is fairly contemporary so something traditional wouldn't do. Plus they wouldn't really have the counter space for a spice rack.

I got Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for PS3 today. I also picked up Das Boot and Taxi 3 on DVD. Oh, I also got a copy of Das Boot for my bro.

Advocados.

Lots and lots of advocados.

Hugo - pinch of salt, pinch of pepper, splash of lime juice, splash of white balsamic vinegar, stir in some steamed chicken... stuff into organic wholemeal pitta bread. Sigh.

Peep toe leopard print shoes with a 2 inch heel. Classy, I know.

Very nice!

I can barely walk in them sober. Goodness knows how I'll manage after a couple of bottles of New Year's Eve champagne!

Oh, I'm sure you'll have plenty of willing male volunteers to catch you should you fall! ;)

Have fun!

Yeah, but you try to hand reef and steer in a wild north pacific gale wearing pretty shoes. ;)

I think I also prefer her idea of how to spend New Year's Eve. :D
