Your latest purchases, cont.

I typically don't get paid over hiatuses, so I had to be super careful with my money during the holidays. Somehow, with all the gift giving and travel, dates and meals out, etc... I managed to be really good this year and saved a lot more than I usually do, so I treated myself last night:

-A magic mouse for my MacBookPro
-The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (paperback)
-Bossypants (paperback)
-Star Trek & Philosophy (hardback)

Pandorum, Logan's Run, & The Dark Crystal.

Now if I can just find Labyrinth on DVD almost all my VHS' will de done with.

Well, at least it's smiling and happy...

... at witnessing the destruction and suffering of all mankind.

Case Logic 17 inch laptop Messenger.

Also bought an alternator for my car and dinner for one of my best friends (who has his own computer repair business and spent several hours setting up my new computer and transferring files off my old drives)

I just ordered an "S3 Quad Band Quad Cards Analog TV FM QWERTY keyboard Cell Phone"

I fully expect it to be one step above utter rubbish. But it can use four sim cards simultaneously, so I figured, for 40 bucks, why the hell not? It better than carrying around three work and my private mobile. Gonna run three works sim cards and my UK number in the S3 and my private number in my Galaxy. Huh, finally got my bloody sim cards sorted.

At some point, I'll probably end up getting at least a dual-card phone. I've been able to stave off needing the functionality a little longer, but I fear I may need it eventually. It's a shame that they don't seem to attract proper development in the same way that single-card phones do, but I suppose it makes sense in terms of how the maker/operator market is currently structured.

Bottle of cough-syrup and a tin of that stuff you smear on your chest with the menthol/eucalyptus in it...
Caught a cold yesterday...

The thing is that the entire development revolves around piracy. I mean, there are copies of copies that are copies of copies. Its horrible. As long as nobody is willing to fund actual development, and not just software and hardware piracy, these phones aren't going anywhere. They'll just be copied with cheaper and cheaper parts until they either explode, or can be given away for free. I've had a number of Chinese phones over the years. Their quality have dropped to a level that I'd rather carry around two Nokia 1616's taped together with double sided tape.

I'm giving this phone a chance and then i'm gonna boycott these things.

Picked up a great winter-white cabled pullover sweater at Coldwater Creek. With the gift card I had and the clearance sale, I got a $60 dollar item for $13. Score!

 Yeah, the dire quality and general shadiness is what's put me off.
