Your holo-program would be?

I would go to different worlds (I am sure the holodeck could simulate nearly any planet in Voyager's database) and meet new people. I would probably simulate vacation spots too since if I am stuck in the DQ there are many places I would presumably never get to go to again. I might do some actual stories too like novels, but I don't handle structure well. I would rather just simulate environments that don't have an objective where I could just hang. Plus you NEVER KNOW WHEN THE SAFETIES WILL BREAK, so I would be on the cautious side.

I would also eat a bunch of holographic food that I could taste, but wouldn't make me fat.

George you made my day! My favorite treat and feeling in the mood to laugh at the simple things.

Captain Kathryn (or will it be Q. Arachnia now?) Let's go not get fat eating holographic DQ treats!

I wonder if replicated food has a synthetic taste? They're used to it but would it be like eating a Marie Calendars (shudder)

I was thinking if I were on Voyager I'd have enough stress so I'd choose a program where safeties were the lease of my worries.

When I am feeling dangerous or flirty maybe hang out with Paris aka Proton once in awhile when I'm feeling it. I'd be the screaming girl so I could deafen Harry Kim and reject him for Proton. Or the President of Earth. Rawrrr. Picardo was great there.

When that gets boring hmm da vinci time and then some magical place I always dreamed of as a girl. There would probably be a Pegasus. Lol.

I'd buy you a drink. Do you play pool, teacake? I get lucky sometimes haha. I truthfully don't care finding the right trajectory. I like to point and shoot and hope I slam something. Which is why Nintendo's Duck Hunt was made for me, LOL.

I played it when I was a kid. I might play it very enthusiastically with a few drinks today. Not that this would happen IRL since pubs with pool tables here are generally not pleasant. And yeah it is fun to just make coloured balls careen..

I'm going to Narnia, or Middle Earth for sure.

A close 3rd would be some time in the later Mesozoic era to observe the native flora and wildlife.

Why not use the holodeck to relive events from your own life? I could relive the best day of my life everyday. Maybe tweak the program until it's the best possible version of the memory.

That sounds like that bible verse, what was it.. dogs returning to their vomit.

That sounds more like living in the Nexus.

very nexus. But since you asked I'd pick a nexus scenario with my kids. my 20's were very angst. A lot of loss. The best days are yet to come :-)

I would never want to relive stuff, are the people suggesting this in their twilight years clutching the rugs on their knees? We only have a limited amount of hours on the earth, better to do new things.

As baseball-obsessed as I am (sorry if I talk about it too much, BTW - but what the hell, I'm answering this thread honestly), I don't know if I'd use the holodeck for that. Maybe to relive classic games or series (such as the 1977 WS), or to get a glimpse of ballparks that I never got the chance to see - Crosley Field, Forbes Field, Comiskey Park, Tiger Stadium, etc. - but as for ones that exist today, I think I'd prefer to visit them for 'real'.

Maybe I'd ask the computer to simulate series that never existed at all, such as the 1994 World Series.

Hey it's your program. why not? :-)

I wonder what it would feel like to be in a holodeck. Would something always feel off because it is just contained light?

I wonder if people would lose weight faster eating holographic food because their bodies are tricked into saliva and digestive production yet no calories are consumed.

You'd start getting really cranky, and then walk out because it's no fun anymore.

But realistically you'd probably gain weight in the bigger picture. Since once you're out of there, if you were relying on eating Holofood, your body would receive no nutrients, and then you'd gorge yourself once you're out of there.
