Your holo-program would be?

I would go to different worlds (I am sure the holodeck could simulate nearly any planet in Voyager's database) and meet new people. I would probably simulate vacation spots too since if I am stuck in the DQ there are many places I would presumably never get to go to again. I might do some actual stories too like novels, but I don't handle structure well. I would rather just simulate environments that don't have an objective where I could just hang. Plus you NEVER KNOW WHEN THE SAFETIES WILL BREAK, so I would be on the cautious side.

I would also eat a bunch of holographic food that I could taste, but wouldn't make me fat.
I'd love to participate in some of my favorite novels if they were converted to holodeck programs. Or go to my favorite holiday places. I'd delete the bears, though.

Yes, it's about being stuck in DQ
In that case I'll have a Peanut Buster Parfait.

Every time I see the abbreviation DQ, I automatically think "Dairy Queen."

We have these hand dryers that have appeared in recent years where you stick your hands in and it blasts you and within a moment they are totally dry. And I bet they don't need to do that with actual blasting force, probably sonic dryers.
They're not that recent.

Be Bond and make love to loads of Bond girls..

Or have a counselling session with a dozen Counsellor Troi's... or a dozen Orion slave girls... or both!

Oh the possibilities!! Please can we invent the holodeck/suite asap?

As baseball-obsessed as I am (sorry if I talk about it too much, BTW - but what the hell, I'm answering this thread honestly), I don't know if I'd use the holodeck for that. Maybe to relive classic games or series (such as the 1977 WS), or to get a glimpse of ballparks that I never got the chance to see - Crosley Field, Forbes Field, Comiskey Park, Tiger Stadium, etc. - but as for ones that exist today, I think I'd prefer to visit them for 'real'.

Maybe I'd ask the computer to simulate series that never existed at all, such as the 1994 World Series.

Maybe games between all-star versions of teams – all-time Yankess vs. all-time Giants?

You got it, bro. :techman:

I don't see the appeal of acting out characters in a novel. Especially literary novels whose appeal is based on the original writer's creative vision. Either you have to have practically memorized the novel or the setting adapts to you and you lose the literary quality of the original.

Stories written specifically for the holodeck meant to adapt to the character's responses would be a lot more fun, IMO. Maybe stories within an old franchise but adapted to have multiple paths depending on the way you act. And passive viewing holograms would probably be designed for you to explore the setting.

I would be fun to see the greatest players from different eras of sports pit against each other.

They are both fairly traditional people I think.

I wouldn't bother one at all. But then, I don't have a holodeck so who knows how I would feel if I grew up with one.

I wanna go to Lothlorien, and NOT the creepy, dark, spiderwebby lace from the movies, but the Lothlorien of the books and my childhood imagination, the Golden Wood, the Land of Dreaming Blossoms, full of light and song and beauty!

Or simply of nice, warm ocean shore.....

I'm kinda lazy thinking all the perameters that need to be programed. When the computer wants more detail I might bash a padd. lol.

They like traditional literature of the sort I find boring at best. But stuff like ancient Rome or Egypt or Mesopotamia, that include seeing parts of Earth I've never been to, would be interesting. And I'd love a holonovel of Robert Silverberg's Majipoor series, especially Lord Valentine's Castle.
