My head canon is,
and no matter what post-Voyager novels induce, what would Janeway decide if, in s7, she was
ordered by Starfleet 1)
to take appropriate measures to facilitate the handing of the remaing Maquis crew to a missioned security crew, when Voyager would stop to DS9 station? 2) not to tell anyone?
We know how Janeway is very attached to the said Maquis crew and consider them as part of her crew, what is natural at this stage BUT, according to the way Adm. Hayes(?) still refered to them as Maquis, it seems that her view was far to be shared by admirality, and that in spite of all the time and millions of gigabytes of reports, official requests, etc.exchanged since the Doctor managed to get in touch with Starfleet.
So, to return to my questions,
- would Janeway decide to disobey orders and inform Chakotay, as her friend, and help him - and those who would want to follow him - to flee discreetly before the ship arrives at destination, with the help of Tuvok, Harry, Tom and maybe Seven, even if it means retaliations and dishonor later?
- would Janeway obeys blindly to her superiors, as a Starfleet brat she is supposed to be?
- would Janeway decide to split down the middle, in informing her friend, of the project of Starfleet, while indicating to him that she has no intention of doing otherwise (but promising to do her best to defend the Maquis crew, if there is an inquiry or a trial)?
because after, we can imagine what we want!
- would Janeway decide a mutiny, sure that Starfleet and the Federation will make Chakotay, B'Elena, etc...pay for their former activities, and decide to return Voyager in DQ, regardless of the danger involved and her crew's will to go home?
