Your first taste of Trekdom?

I think I was about 7 or 8 when they showed TOS in TV here in Czech republic for the first time. Parents were watching it - and I watched it with them. Then we watched all the other (except of TAS - they haven't showed it here) series and films, then I started to buy books... and now I even plan to do a school project about Star Trek :)

When I was 13 years old:

TV Guide 1966 Fall Season Premiere issue.

Humm...this Star Trek thing looks like it could be cool. I hope they don't crap out like Lost In Space.

I was going to give my usual amswer of "Miri", first run ("Bewitched" was a rerun. Yikes!), but I'm guessing I had also seen this issue of TV Guide and dismissed it as another "Lost in Space" (which I had stopped watching due to "Batman"). Hooked ever since.

Actually, TAS was showned here - it was part of Nova´s Saturday morning block.

My first experience with Trek was the books in my school library, when I was in 7th grade. They had a bunch of TOS, some TNG and DS9, but only 2 Voyager novels. First novel I read was Death Count, and to this day, I think it's one of the best Star Trek novels out there.

The first time I ever saw Trek on TV was Spike's two-hour Voyager block. The first episode I watched was The Gift, and then I was hooked.

1972 or '73...I seven-ish years old, and I was looking for something on TV one afternoon (on the five channels that we got) and came across the scene in Space Seed when the crew first transported onto the Botany Bay.

I had never even heard of Star Trek before that and was attracted to the show by the fact that a bunch of people just materialized out of thin air. Then later I saw the pale green guy with the pointed ears and decided that I had to watch the show.

I suppose I'm lucky that the first Star Trek episode I had come across was one of the better ones; I sometimes wonder if I would have become a fan if that first episode I saw was And the Children Shall Lead (or if I would have been too creeped out by the pedophiliac angel to watch anymore).

The Voyage Home: Star Trek IV in 1986 so I was 9. I'm conivnced my mother mistook Trek for Wars...

Then nothing more until TNG started in the UK. I was with that from Day 1.

Hm, never noticed it - but truth to be said, I usually looked (and still look) what ČT was showing, since I remember TOS was showed there.

I started watching it at the age of four. I don't recall the circumstances, and I've always assumed my parents or older siblings were responsible for it being on, but my older sister claims it was my idea.

Started at age 9 with the opening of TMP in 1979, although my mom remembered me watching TAS first run in 1973, but since I was 3, I don't remember that.

I was watching it in the Fall of 1966; I remember watching it in West Virginia, and we moved from there around Thanksgiving of 1966. I would have turned 14 that October, so I was 13 when it premiered.

My dad was an engineer and a sci-fi fan, and we had already been watching whatever sci-fi was on TV. His favorite was Twilight Zone; he also liked Outer Limits.

My little sister liked Lost In Space, and we used to tease her about that.

Well I think I have you all beat. My buddy in grade 5 told me about this awesome show and would draw pictures of the Enterprise A all the time while we were in class. So I decided to watch one of the movies he was gonna lend me and it turned out my first Trek experience was Star Trek 5. (ugghh)

Hard to believe now that the worst movie turned me into a die hard fan...

On a footnote I remember flipping channels with my brother when I was younger and coming across a show with a guy we called "Peanut Butter Head" Turns out it was Worf.

1994, near the end of TNG. I was about 6-7 years old and I can remember watching it with my dad before bed.

September 1966. I vividly recall the premiere. I was a bit young, and don't have a solid string of memories until '68. Funny thing is that they are/were there though... in syndication I recall being glad I'd seen them all in whole, so I could follow the stories better. And the when I bought the DVD's, I was floored by seeing and then remembering a scene that I had completely forgotten about since '66 (Uhura's complaint to Spock about saying 'hailing frequencies'). I was shocked, in that I thought I had all the missing syndication footage readily available in my onboard memory alpha!
