I've spent a lot of my time in the car as of late. Driving, that is.
And often boredom creeps in to the point of listening to the radio (to be honest, that happens a lot). Yet it made me think. When I was deprived of TV back in my Uni days, and before I got a TV in my bedroom as a teenager, radio was my friend. I used to listen to a lot of radio back then, mostly national stations, but also a lot of local commercial radio too.
Currently I listen to BBC Five Live to get me up in the morning (yes, I'm aware it's Nicky Campbell
) and keep me informed of latest news and sport stuff. In the car, I still listen to it for short journeys, but for much longer journeys, however, I prefer music radio, particularly whichever local station is banging out the hits, and also Radio 1 and Radio 2. Sometimes I also listen to Classic FM whenever the mood takes me (I avoid Smooth Classics at Six though [formerly known as Smoooooooooooth Classics at Seven]) and, if the Proms are on, Radio 3. I always have a place for Radio 4 though, especially during the comedy programmes.
I've also had a listen to the digital and online stations, including various Shoutcasts, BBC 6Music, BBC 7 (again during the comedy hour), and, if I'm in a particularly enigmatic mood, the Asian Network. However, online radio is something I've not had much exposure to, what with all the choices out there.
Which radio stations do you listen to the most?
