Your favourite radio stations?

I've spent a lot of my time in the car as of late. Driving, that is. :( And often boredom creeps in to the point of listening to the radio (to be honest, that happens a lot). Yet it made me think. When I was deprived of TV back in my Uni days, and before I got a TV in my bedroom as a teenager, radio was my friend. I used to listen to a lot of radio back then, mostly national stations, but also a lot of local commercial radio too.

Currently I listen to BBC Five Live to get me up in the morning (yes, I'm aware it's Nicky Campbell :scream:) and keep me informed of latest news and sport stuff. In the car, I still listen to it for short journeys, but for much longer journeys, however, I prefer music radio, particularly whichever local station is banging out the hits, and also Radio 1 and Radio 2. Sometimes I also listen to Classic FM whenever the mood takes me (I avoid Smooth Classics at Six though [formerly known as Smoooooooooooth Classics at Seven]) and, if the Proms are on, Radio 3. I always have a place for Radio 4 though, especially during the comedy programmes.
I've also had a listen to the digital and online stations, including various Shoutcasts, BBC 6Music, BBC 7 (again during the comedy hour), and, if I'm in a particularly enigmatic mood, the Asian Network. However, online radio is something I've not had much exposure to, what with all the choices out there.

Which radio stations do you listen to the most?

I divide my radio time between:

KMTT - 103.7 FM "The Mountain" - album oriented rock, but with a slightly eclectic mix of blues, reggae, and such.

KZOK - 102.5 FM - classic rock.

KIRO - 97.3 FM - News/Talk - good daytime host, politically middle-of-the road compared to most talk radio.

KVI - 570 AM - Only at night for Coast to Coast AM.

Oh, and this is in the Seattle area, FYI.

KIRO - 97.3 FM - News/Talk - good daytime host, politically middle-of-the road compared to most talk radio.
When I left Seattle it 97.3 was still Oldies KBSG! Awww. :(

I don't listen to radio much these days, and nothing local. I tune into KEXP online occasionally, and I listen to the different BBC stations every so often as well. Mostly I listen to NPR, though.

KHYL 101.1 FM -- "V101.1 - The R&B and Old School station"

and

KYMX 96.1 FM -- "Soft rock, Mix 96" (They also switch to Christmas music during December)

I'm also in the Seattle area...

*hangs head in shame* I usually listen to KBKS 106.1 FM, aka KISS 106.1. Generally I only listen to them in the morning for Jackie & Bender, mostly because I can't stand much more Lady Gaga or Lil' Wayne than the time I listen to them. My iPod is usually my 'radio station' otherwise.

Growing up in Wenatchee I listened to KWWW, which was pretty much the same mix of top 40 without as much R&B/soft rap mixed in due to the more conservative nature of eastern Washington.

KIRO started simulcasting at 97.3 FM last fall killing KBSG, and then here at the beginning of this month, 710 AM became an ESPN Radio affiliate, and all the stuff KIRO used to do on AM became and FM-only deal.

Of the G.T.A. radio stations, my favourite is 92.5 Jack FM. I think they play a good mix of classic pop/rock hits from the 60s-90s, plus a bunch of more contemporary stuff that is sometimes hit-or-miss -- but overall I like their playlist. :techman:

Radcliffe & Maconie on Radio 2
Adam & Joe on 6 Music
Guy Garvey on 6 Music
Various comedy on Radio 7
Various Radio 4 shows. Sometimes. A bit.

My favorite radio station of all time was KROQ, in the greater L.A. area. I listened to it non-stop when I was in college.

Alas, they have changed their format since then, but by GOD, it was a great station.

Still listen to KROQ-at least the music stays modern. Like Star 98 because they have very little talk and they play teh White Stripes, et al. Also listen to Jim Ladd on 95FM at night(the Tom Petty song The Last DJ is about him.)

In the car, I tend to listen to Jack FM - no DJs (apart from on the morning show) and a nice mix of music without too much from today's charts.

EDIT - I see Daneel upthread listens to the same station (well, owned by the same parent company anyway).

Oh no oh no oh no. :(

I used to listen to 5 Live in the mornings but as Nicky Cambell's complete stupidity has become more and more prominent I just can't stand it now.

I love the radio. I listen to it, or radio podcasts, whenever I can really. At the moment: Radio 4 in the mornings, 5 Live in the evenings. A mix of World Service, , 5 Live, Radio 4, 6Music (Stephen!) and Radio 3 podcasts the rest of the time.
